As of the 1st of June 2021, people with invisible disabilities who visit LEGO ® House can choose to wear the Sunflower lanyard if they want to signal to employees that they may need extra time, understanding, patience or help during their visit. These Legoland pop badges are worn by employees (Model Citizens) for the service they provide or for an honor they have been given. But, if you have the gift of gab like my husband does, you may just be able to convince a Model Citizen to let you have it!

The campaign was developed by the LEGO Group’s Global Brand Development team as part of the brand’s global brand platform ‘Rebuild the World’. The creative was developed in a close collaboration between the LEGO Agency and colleagues from across the LEGO entities including LEGOLAND, LEGO House, the LEGO Foundation and colleagues from LEGO stories and factories globally. One of the highlights for the girls was the meet and greet with Lego Batman himself and have a photograph with the hero of the movie.Pop badges can also be found at Legoland Discovery Centers. We’ve found that these are popular for trading with employees because many have never seen them before. So if you have a Legoland Discovery Center near you, ask for them at their retail shop! New! 2022 Pop Badges Legoland Food Services Employees– we have seen two badges worn by Model Citizens working in food services. We had a really fantastic family day out and one that we won’t forget for a long while. It offers a totally different experience to that at LEGOLAND Windsor and we enjoyed the different attractions, shows and building lots of things with LEGO. Julia Goldin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer, the LEGO Group, said: “Play has always been the cornerstone of humanity. It’s not only fun, but it’s crucial to helping children develop essential life skills, strengthening family bonds and building communities. But with competing pressures on the lives of parents and children, play is often deprioritised. To mark our 90th Anniversary this summer, we’re launching our largest ever celebration of play to inspire people around the world to play more; whatever their age, location or interests. We’re delighted to be joined by a host of the world’s most creative brands and personalities that are just as passionate as we are about play and reminding the world how easy, fun and beneficial it can be.” From LEGO House, Sanne Louise Forsberg Hansen, Head of People and Culture, says: “It is very close to us to ensure inclusion and accessibility for all. We already have a good relationship with the National Autism Institute and the National Autism Association to ensure that people with autism can prepare their visit in the best possible way. The Sunflower is just such a fine solution that can take our work with inclusion to completely new heights. Our employees get some concrete tools and the guests know that they are welcome and we really want to do our best, no matter what challenges they may have . ”

Visiting tourist attractions can be stressful for people with an invisible disability such as autism, Alzheimer's, anxiety, mental health conditions, chronic pain, ADHD or PTSD. That is why LEGO House is joining the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, which simply means that a company trains their staff to understand how to best ensure that people with invisible disabilities and their families enjoy a good experience, ju st like everyone else. As you leave the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre you walk through the large LEGO store which had a fantastic range of the latest LEGO products on display. Unfortunately the LEGO® Fire Academy soft play area is now closed but from March 23rd 2017 a brand new LEGO® Ninjago City Adventure soft play will open. As part of limited edition or special events at selected attractions, POP Badges with selected designs may be available to receive by guests. There is also the opportunity to swap a POP Badge, which means if you have a badge and spot a member of our team with a badge on their lanyard with a design that you prefer, you can ask them to swap their badge for one of yours!
