I'm so happy I did (if I had only seen the movie's incredibly poor tactical decisions I would have thought Tolkien a moron). Many corrections and edits are made to our favourite hobbits’ narrations, but as the years go by, copies of the Red Book of Westmarch start disappearing or getting destroyed.

They mimicked his style, but did not understand his purpose, and hence produced merely empty facsimiles. The struggles and hardships are of such importance and value to both the reader and the characters by the end of the journey, Tolkien has spoken volumes about friendship, love, bravery, honour, loyalty, deceit. His writing was chiefly influenced by his familiarity with the mythological traditions of the Norse and Welsh cultures. Our Non-Fiction Range includes: Academic, Photography, Audio books, Business, Cook Books, Craft Books, Health and Fitness Books, Mind, Body, Spirit (Tarot).

As this is my fourth or fifth read through of this book, I feel like I don't need to repeat myself and construct a long-winded review on how this is quite easily, my favourite set of books. When Tolkien began writing it in 1937, he merely wanted it to be a sequel to his clever children's story, The Hobbit. Anyway, some poet wrote that we are more the same than different, but let's still enjoy our differences.Mild-mannered Oxford scholar John Ronald Reuel Tolkien had little inkling when he published The Hobbit; Or, There and Back Again in 1937 that, once hobbits were unleashed upon the world, there would be no turning back. In Rivendell, Bilbo translated the events of the Silmarillion and possibly got first hand information from people like Glorfindel.

Tolkien firmly believed that his characters had existed long before he had, that God had given him the story. I fell instantly in love with these books when I read them for the first time ( I think I was about fifteen that time) and I´m still fond of them. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.
