Quick read that reminded me of many of the aspects of big firm life that made me miserable for so long. Helen Wan's "engaging and suspenseful" ( Wall Street Journal) debut novel, The Partner Track, is now a Netflix series!

Her observations and commentaries were spot on, and I think the ending was both surprising and inevitable for so many reasons. So the real question is, will they be able to take their relationship further, and will Ingrid be able to move past this and forgive him? I was too curious about what happens with the love interests in the trailer so I had to read the book to find out since I can't wait the half-month for the movie to come out.There are insider chunks--like reference to analysis from the Wall Street Journal and Oil and Gas Investor--Wan gets exactly right. I expected it to be breezy and lightweight, but it was surprisingly well written, reflective and enjoyable, to the extent that sexism and anti-diversity sentiments can be enjoyable.
