Description

It’s best to replace teats at regular intervals – at least every two to three months – as washing and sterilising will wear on the material. Above are the signs baby needs faster flow teat. Babies usually start on a slow teat, but they move to a faster teat as time goes on. However, the question that bothers the mother is, ‘when do I know my baby is not comfortable with the teat he is using?’

Since 2011, the European Commission has banned the use of Bisphenol A (BPA) in baby bottles. This was due to concerns that the chemical could leach out of the plastic and be absorbed by babies. None of the bottles for sale in the UK should have BPA (NCT, 2011).

If you plan to use bottles occasionally, or once a day, then it might make sense to buy just one bottle and teat.

We support all parents, however they feed their baby. If you have questions, concerns or need support, you can speak to a breastfeeding counsellor by calling our helpline on 0300 330 0700, whether you are exclusively breastfeeding or using formula milk. Breastfeeding counsellors have had extensive training, will listen without judging or criticising and will offer relevant information and suggestions. You can also find more useful articles here.

No, you can’t use Closer to Nature teats on Advanced Anti-Colic bottles. Closer to Nature teats have a built-in air valve, and don’t work with our Advanced Anti Colic bottles. The valve in your Advanced Anti Colic bottles is situated inside the bottle, attached to the end of the venting tube and is shaped like a star. It’s important that you make sure you match the right teat to the right bottle. Sterilising bottles is recommended for babies under a year because bacteria can easily grow in any milk remaining on the bottle or teats (Unicef, 2019). Babies are more vulnerable to these bacteria. But what does it really mean to follow your baby's lead? Well, Feed UK says that the following can all be signs that your baby's teat is too small: Hegen's teats are designed to encourage seamless transition from breast to bottle feeding, minimising nipple confusion for your baby.
