I don't know about you but to my eyes, there is no sine wave of any sort in the output of FX-Audio DAC-X6. It is dominated by noise and who knows what else (in red). The cyan one is from Topping D30 which takes the crown again as the best of the three. If you look for the best DAC amp combo, I suggest you take a look at DAC-X6. Starting with a design, I have to affirm that its styling is great and comfortable. It hasn’t unnecessary decorations and furnishes, the whole device looks smooth and simple. If there’s anything to complain about, it’s a slight midrange dryness, meaning that both instruments and vocals could’ve done with a bit more body and tone decay. But this gets obvious only if you compare it to more expensive gear. On its own, and for its price, DAX X6 MKII is a stunningly capable performer. In-Ear Compatibility Front panel buttons are old fashioned toggle switches but they have a solid, reassuring feel. There is an on/off switch which I like and a button for selecting one of the three inputs. If anyone wants to review my files, I uploaded the recordings at https://nilsschneider.de/temp/whitenoise_test_dac_x6.zip When I got it, I was impressed by the sound. Thats why I made an own analysis to confirm or deny what you found out. My hypothesis was that there is some postfiltering after the DAC stage going on depending on the sample rate at which the device is used. Customers have to bear any form of custom/import/processing fees that are applicable for your parcel. Reliability was excellent under Roon without any failures using default settings. The only downfall it had was ignoring the volume control level in Roon. So if you rely on that for your volume level for your system, i.e. have no pre-amp, then you can't use this DAC. Hopefully this is a firmware limitation and can be fixed.

Suck it, Scalpers! - Spider-Man 2 PS5

Good to hear all of your opinions of the X6 here. For a newbie like me, it's certainly comforting to know that I'm hearing what others are hearing. He could be right, he could be wrong. I think he's wrong but he says it in such a sincere way. You have to think he thinks he's right." I've got another 'proper' rig, for my 'serious' listening. This dac-amp combo is just for computer media usage; mainly films, series, youtube etc. I would normally just plug straight into the laptop, for this. But the laptop's sound has a problem (thankfully only in the analogue domain). I have to use USB audio, now.

That is an interesting find. Definitely an attempt to copy one another. Who came first is had to tell. As is knowing which is better without a bench test. I haven't yet disturbed my LCD2, to give the X6 a more thorough work out, but my initial impressions are good. There also a Dilvpoetry one like the original. There are some difference. Dilvpoetry also made this revamped version. I've never tried this, and someone, who knows better, might comment and put me right, But, I have reasonable certainty. Here's an example: most computer's audio output can be used for 'phones (they're marked as such), or for connecting to a speaker system, or any analogue audio inputs, really. As cranky as I can be, I can't really find any faults here with the physical execution and overall functionality with the exception of volume control issue. I have put a market at 0.1db deviation from ideal which translates to -92 dbFS. From there on, deviation gets larger. Translating that to "bits," that says that we have about 15 bits of good resolution. The DAC X6 (high biased, opamp rolled) is a brilliant piece of budget hifi. I love it. The combo with the modded T50RP represents absolutely stunning value. More important: it does not sound good to my ears. Harsh and messy with voices (even level and FR-matched).

FX-Audio DAC-X6 Review – The Nerdy Student

The feature set is quite rich with USB, optical (toslink) and coax S/PDIF inputs. The unit is externally powered which is another unique thing in this low price rage. As such, power consumption from USB port is minimal at 50 milliamps. I kept at it and after a few careful listening sessions with music I know intimately, a few things became apparent. First, there was more bass, like it just sounded fuller. And yet, the additional bass did not overwhelm or bleed into the mids or highs. Second, the bass sounded crisper, like a drumbeat would be more precise with defined beginning and ending of the beat. For example, in A Thousand Kisses Deep, the clarity of both the male and female vocals is exceptional and its easy to hear the words both are singing. ABOUT USThe Nerdy Student is not associated with any products mentioned in this blog unless stated otherwise. Any opinions expressed are completely my own. Measured performance of the FX-Audio DAC-X6 is rather disappointing. It loses to similarly priced Fiio E10K and by a larger margin to Topping D30.We see the top of the capacitor is literally dented! Maybe it got damaged in manufacturing but whatever the cause, it doesn't inspire confidence. The FX Audio DAC-X6 is a Digital Audio Decoder and amplifier with multiple input options and a budget-friendly price. I have the FX-Audio X6 mkII. I find it to be quite good. I also have the X6 version 1 without bluetooth and the O2 dac/amp from mayflower. Hey, thanks for your input. I ended up followed what you said, plugging the speakers into the headphone out. That worked out quite well in the end. The original can be made a little better with putting the jumpers in high gain and swapping the opamp. I think the Dilvpoetry one has no jumpers and might be in high gain by default.
