The Plant Power Way by Rich Roll and Julie Piatt Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and triticale. It often acts as a binding agent and gives food structure. Unfortunately, some people have a sensitivity or intolerance to gluten and can experience unpleasant or even threatening symptoms. For example, gluten can damage the small intestines of people with celiac disease and make it difficult to absorb nutrients. Even those without celiac disease may experience discomfort, headaches, bloating, or rashes after consuming gluten. Recipe developer and blogger Megan Sadd offers her best 75 nourishing, plant-based recipes to answer the question of “what’s for dinner?”. Get excited for a hearty chili, hefty burritos, homemade plant-based sushi, and more—and all of it comes together in just a half-hour. 4. Power Plates by Gena Hamshaw Written by a former firefighter and triathlete—now a best-selling author and leader of the Plant Strong revolution— this book provides accessible recipes to fuel your life. From satiating bowls to Badass Banana Bread, these 130 recipes will keep your stomach full and your palate entertained for a long while. 7. Native Foods Restaurant Cookbook by Tanya Petronova

Chloe’s Vegan Desserts by Chloe CoscarelliGrocery Shopping Information from suspect ingredients lists and label-reading assistance to food suggestions and money-saving tips. Review: I’m a huge fan of the Go Dairy Free blog, and of Alisa’s books. Eat Dairy Free is intended for those who either have to avoid dairy due to allergy, or who choose to avoid dairy for health and wellness reasons. The recipes are beautiful and vibrant, printed on glossy paper and in full colour. The book touches on nutrients, organic and non-GMO, meal plans, milk alternatives, forms of coconut, and other simple ingredients swaps. Recipes range from sweet to savory, and can be accomplished by any home cook. Fantastic book for recipe inspiration, or for those living with dairy allergy and who either love to cook or are learning to navigate the DF kitchen for the first time. Of course, special events have not been forgotten in Go Dairy Free. For the holidays, recipes like the Condensed Crème of Mushroom Soup and Sweetened Condensed Coconut Milk will work seamlessly as substitutes in those time-tested recipes, while the Coco-Nog, Cheese-Free Scalloped Potatoes, and Pumpkin “Cheesecake” recipes may become new traditions on your seasonal menu.

Review: Nina seriously knows her chocolate. The recipes in this book are diverse and indulgent. As I sifted through it deciding which recipes to bake (it was difficult to decide), I imagined that her friends and family must have loved being taste testers. I think this book is wonderful for families or individuals who manage celiac disease in addition to food allergies. If you love British-isms, you’ll love this book even more. For example, her recipe for “tray bakes” which we call “sheet cakes” in NA. Doesn’t a tray bake just sound so much nicer? Canadians often switch between imperial and metric measurement systems, but if you are used to imperial it would be helpful to do all your conversions before you begin baking. This book is really special and has a sweet treat for literally every occasion. It's a simple consideration, but it may make or break your level of engagement with a cookbook. Are there photos? If so, how many of the recipes are photographed? Photography is expensive, and not all cookbooks feature a photo for every recipe. But are there enough photos to give you a sense of the style of the recipes, how they'll look on the plate, and whether or not they are appetizing?Free From: All recipes are free from wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soya, sesame, lupin and of course crustaceans, fish, molluscs, sulphites, celery & mustard. Not everyone can “wing it” when it comes to mealtime, and that’s okay. With the ever-growing trend of dairy-free and plant-based eating, it can be intimidating when looking for dairy-free cookbooks. Choose from any one of these essential dairy-free cookbooks, and you’ll be set with recipes to excite your palate and fuel your body to perform at its optimal best! 1. Oh She Glows Cookbook by Angela Liddon Healthy gluten free and dairy free recipes , each accompanied with colored photos: breakfasts , soups and salads , side dishes and appetizers , main dishes (including beef, poultry, fish), breads , flour mixes, desserts , healthy beverages and even sauces and dressings . Everyday Living Tips with suggestions for skincare, supplements, store-bought foods, restaurant dining, travel, celebrations, and other social situations. Review: I recommend this resource for any adult or family living with food allergy. The amount of information contained between the covers is incredible, with lots of attention to detail, and written in an accessible way. It would make a good classroom resource for teachers or caregivers who want to learn about allergy. What is anaphylaxis? How do I adapt my home? How will I be diagnosed? And many other practical, important questions are answered in this book.

Based on the best-selling book by the same name, this cookbook offers over 100 recipes for every occasion that exemplify the How Not to Die guidelines. After enjoying these recipes for a few days, you’ll not only survive, but thrive. 6. Engine 2 Cookbook by Rip EsselstynReview: Olivier’s writing about his life experiences with multiple food allergy reinforces that you can do so much despite your allergies, and that family and friends are a great support system. It’s also a reminder for someone like myself, who has not been a teen for quite some time, about how teens think about their food allergy. He provides handy resources for learning more about food allergy, and some of his favorite recipes. This book could be a spring-board for discussions about food allergy with teenage kids. Millions of people enjoy a healthy lifestyle free from milk products, and thanks to Go Dairy Free, the best-selling dairy free cookbook and guide, you can join them without sacrifice. Whether you are contending with a milk allergy or sensitivity, avoiding lactose, seeking lasting weight loss, looking to permanently resolve acne, interested in increased energy and disease prevention, or taking the leap from vegetarian to vegan, Go Dairy Free will empower you to make the transition with ease. That said, gluten is not inherently harmful to most people. For those who do have a gluten sensitivity, they may need to adopt a gluten-free diet by avoiding foods with wheat, rye, barley, and triticale. It can be easier said than done, however, as gluten is found in many foods beyond bread. Good cookbooks will often have sections devoted to technique, especially if the book focuses on a specific cooking style (such as Instant Pots or slow cookers, for example), They might also provide a short list of ingredients or tools that would be helpful in executing the recipes. Sometimes cookbooks will even offer a glossary of terms that are specific to the style of cooking or the culture or country from which the recipes come. In the case of gluten- and grain-free recipes, a glossary can be very helpful to anyone who's new to this way of eating.
