Harley is one of my favorite characters, so it’s hard to for me to be disappointed in a comic starring her.

She’s the one who speaks in fart jokes, sex jokes, poop jokes, and pop culture references for things that aren’t even widely known; so, I don’t know how anyone could find them funny. Do I recommend this because 2 out of the 3 stories are marginally better than what we get in the main Harley comics?So here’s the thing: there’s been a bit of emotional manipulation going on when it comes to discussions on Harley Quinn. An unmissable volume also for those who love the graphic style of the many designers who alternate in the stories.

I’ve been trying to compromise with these Harley Quinn comics with the hopes of just getting something that isn’t complete gobbledygook. I don’t really see any benefit in projecting some malicious ulterior motive onto the people who hold this opinion.

There is an innocent side to Harley Quinn, and I really appreciate the love that Chris Condon seems to have for the character. Harley Quinn Black + White + Red is out now in a collected edition, which includes two never-before-seen stories only available in this format, courtesy of some rather high-profile creative teams: “Eight Nights of Harlequin” by Veep showrunner David Mandel and superstar artist Adam Hughes, and “Harleen’s Half Dozen (Plus One)” by Harley Quinn co-creator Paul Dini and fellow Batman: The Animated Series alumni Kevin Altieri. They can do a darker Harley story and then they can do something that’s just over the top and it always seems to work. I’m going to be making a small change in how I review these comics, because, honestly, I’ve been holding back. I don’t know how often I need to describe how this portrayal was the worst thing to ever happen to Harley Quinn.
