Blood Angels Red and Flesh Tearers Red gave painters new ways to paint reds, and Baal Red opens up new possibilities thanks to its more saturated colour. For the insignia if you haven’t been blessed with the secrets to applying transfers I will outline it for you here. The Ultramarines may be the boy scouts of the Adeptus Astartes but they’re far from boring, with lots of unique characters and opportunities for interesting heraldry and special elements like laurel wreaths and cloth. They’re a rewarding faction to paint and play and unique in that regardless of what model you buy, you can always reference the box art for an example of a well painted model. Phoenix Hawk (PHX-3K, #10, white with grey and yellow accents), piloted by Franklin “Furter” Stonewall The MAD-3R Marauder is my all-time favorite ‘Mech, and I painted it green as an homage to the cover of my all-time favorite Technical Manual, 3025.

Edge the pads in gold or whichever company colour you’re aiming for. (I used S75 Elven Gold and blended it with some silver while it was wet). I got my start in BT with second edition, so I painted this Warhammer brown in homage to the one on the cover of that glorious box set. Emma: It’s so yellow! Bad Moon Yellow covers really well all over for a clean, sharp yellow that’s super bright. It’s great on armour panels for Bad Moons – of course – and Ironjawz! Apply Micro Sol to the transfer in small amounts letting it dry each time. Each application should see the transfer become noticeably softer and softer until it adheres smoothly to the surfaceEmma: I’ve been painting for many years, and Contrast is one of the most fun and versatile paint ranges I’ve worked with. They are easy and fun to use, making armies faster than ever to paint.

B. Taping: This is done concurrently with sub assembling and is just as important. Use an X-Acto Knife to cut out small pieces of painter’s tape to cover the connection areas of the sub-assemblies. This is important because paint over these areas will make it hard for the glue to hold the final model together, and because GW’s current line of models fit together so perfectly the undercoat can prevent the model from coming together as intended. https://imgur.com/3nmTy9f These too are reproduced from my Primaris Marines scheme. It’s almost like I painted these first and carried over a lot of the techniques! Once that is dry, I apply dry pigments to the legs to get a dusty effect. Depending on what I’m going for, I might do this more than once with applications of matte varnish at very low PSI in between. Clean up the edges of the secondary color if needed (streaks an imperfections will look off at this scale). For the blue armor, I went way off the reservation and used a Reaper Master Series Triad called… Ultramarine Blues. Crazy, right? As you can (hopefully) see, the darkest color in the triad has some nice purple tones and overall the triad is quite vibrant and blue.

And there’s more – all Citadel Colour Shades have been reformulated to make them even better, seven more have been created, which we’ll be taking a look at next week. Plus, we’ve also perfected white spray paint, making it easier than ever to undercoat your miniatures. So here is the ‘Eavy Metal recipe, but this leaves out some important information on how each of these steps are accomplished, which I will attempt to expand on.There’s a lot of green in Warhammer, from Salamanders and Nurgle Daemons, to Orks and orruks! Gutrippa Flesh is here to help, slotting in between Militarum Green and Plaguebearer Flesh . Emma: This colour is all about punch, it’s so bright and powerful. Doomfire Magenta straight out of the pot gives you a vivid pink for cloth or magic spells. It also suits Daughters of Khaine or Escher Gangers if you want some cool pink hair colours.
