Description

In 1995, after Harry Potter returned to Hogwarts from the Little Hangleton graveyard, Barty told Dumbledore that he would go along with Harry in his office, despite the latter's insistence that he not. In fact, Barty wanted to kill Harry and learn what had happened at the Graveyard. Dumbledore realised that he wasn't the real Moody, knowing that the real Moody would never have removed Harry from Dumbledore's sight after having been told not to, and ran at Barty's office. Dumbledore stunned Barty just as he was going to kill Harry. Harry noted that Dumbledore was in such a fury, that his eyes seemed like having a blue flame, and Harry realised why Dumbledore was considered the one wizard Voldemort always feared. Dumbledore was disgusted by Barty's patricide, as well as abusing and ignoring the love his mother and Winky gave him, and bound him up for it. After Barty's exposure, Dumbledore learned that he was given the Dementor's Kiss, and noted to the Minister that this was a poor move due to the destruction of a valuable piece of evidence, showing he still had some pity for what Barty became as it also meant the Crouch family blood line was permanently ended.

Auror members of the task force were shown a series of training techniques inspired by Mad-Eye, requiring them to stay on their feet and defend themselves for over an hour and increasing the amount of damage they could withstand in combat. These task force members also attended a lesson on Moody's work, including his creed of always remaining on guard. A Calamity Investigator working for the task force also read through his report on the battle which cost him his left eye, inspiring them to utilise pain as power and increasing their chance of landing Critical Casts on Adversaries in Feared Chains. Fred Weasley: " What's wrong with him? Is his mind affected?" George Weasley: " Saintlike. You see... I'm holy. Holey , Fred, geddit?" Fred Weasley: " Pathetic. Pathetic! With the whole wide world of ear-related humour before you, you go for holey ?" — Fred and George after the latter's injury [src] Vance was killed by Death Eaters in 1996, while Podmore was imprisoned in Azkaban for attempting to open the door of the Department of Mysteries. Moody didn't know it and was angry with Podmore, because he had taken his Invisibility Cloak.

Hermione and Moody fought at several battles together, but, when Moody was killed, Hermione was devastated. Why so tense, Potter? My father and I have a bet, you see. I don't think you're going to last ten minutes in this tournament. He disagrees. He thinks you won't last five!

All the while, Crouch did his part in Voldemort's plan. Moody's life was spared due to Crouch needing his hair to create the Polyjuice Potion, and wanting to question Moody for his behaviour, patterns and such, so Crouch could successfully imitate him, all the while keeping Moody captive under the Imperius Curse. [15] Duelling: Crouch was an excellent duellist, as, along with Peter Pettigrew, he was capable of defeating Alastor Moody, who was an extremely powerful wizard that had defeated dozens of other Death Eaters during his time as an Auror before the British Ministry of Magic agents arrived on the scene. However, Crouch was effortlessly subdued by Albus Dumbledore with a single Stunning Spell, before he could react. Yaxley: " My Lord, I have heard differently. Dawlish, the Auror, let slip that Potter will not be moved until the thirtieth, the night before the boy turns seventeen." Severus Snape: " My source told me that there are plans to lay a false trail; this must be it. No doubt a Confundus Charm has been placed upon Dawlish… I assure you , Yaxley, the Auror Office will play no further part in the protection of Harry Potter." — Death Eater meeting at Malfoy Manor during the height of the war [src] |Hogwarts students | Hogwarts Thestral herd | British Ministry of Magic | Giant colony ( Karkus's control) In the Battle of the Seven Potters in the movie Deathly Hallows Part I, Moody is shown riding a recumbent broom with a seat and handles on each side. It seems to me that this kind of broom isn't conducive to a battle situation.

Harry Potter: " Professor Moody?" Moody: " I don't know so much about 'Professor'. Never got round to much teaching, did I?" — A discussion on Moody's failed teaching career [src] Barty took the Dark Mark in his late teens, and after Lord Voldemort's first defeat in 1981, he worked with Death Eaters searching for their fallen master. [11] He was captured with Bellatrix, Rodolphus, and Rabastan Lestrange after they tortured the Aurors Alice and Frank Longbottom with the Cruciatus Curse, driving the couple into insanity. Wooden Leg: At some point during his career, Alastor lost one of his legs and therefore relied on a wooden leg to replace his lost one. After this battle, Harry was united with Ron and Hermione at the Burrow, where they were safe for a short period of time before going on the hunt for Voldemort's Horcruxes. They agreed amongst themselves to stay for Harry's seventeenth birthday party and for Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour's wedding, and then to head off, despite Molly Weasley's numerous unsuccessful attempts to interrogate and dissuade them. the spider begins hopping around the room, onto student's clothes, faces, etc. Everyone starts laughing] For eight months, Barty disguised himself as Alastor Moody through the usage of Polyjuice Potion. During this time, his face would be covered with scars, with chunks of his nose missing, and dark grey grizzled hair. He also took Alastor's prosthetics, both the magical eye and wooden leg, for his own.Non-verbal magic: Crouch could cast many highly advanced spells without uttering incantations, such as when he transfigured Draco Malfoy into a ferret, when and removed the desks in his classroom. [16] In the films, Moody is portrayed considerably different from his literary counterpart. Differences between his description in the book and his portrayal on film include his magical eye being held in place by an eye patch-like strap and brass ring, having a less mutilated face, including a full nose instead of a piece of it missing.
