Since the dashcam screen also functions as a mirror, unwanted reflections from the interior of the car are unavoidable when using the LCD. You can tilt the dashcam to minimize them, but there is no tilt angle that avoids all reflections when sunlight is streaming through your car windows. All dashcam/mirrors will have this problem. To eliminate reflections completely, you need to apply an anti-glare screen on top of the LCD. You can cut anti-glare film to fit and apply it to the LCD, but then you cannot use the dashcam screen as a mirror. Instead, I cut a piece of rigid anti-glare plastic and attached it with tape at the top, and magnets on the bottom to hold it in place (see attached pictures). Keep in mind that when there are water droplets on the lens in wet weather the camera image is often useless, so in wet weather it’s best to use the dashcam as a mirror. The rear camera comes with a sweet bonus feature. It sports blue light resistant glass, as well as a top-quality Sony sensor. Under daytime conditions, you won’t really notice a difference. However, if the person behind you is using bright blue halogen headlights or high beams, you’ll still see just fine. Even if you get rear-ended at night, you’ll be able to read the other person’s license plate. No Delay Stream Media Mirror Dash Cam: The Stream media technology transmits full 1080P footage without delay, recording the license plate and all crashes clearly. 9.35-inch full screen improves roughly four times greater field of vision than a traditional rearview mirror. Improve your driving experience. Fortunately, this isn't the case. The finish of the display is mirrored, so it functions as a rear-view mirror when the car is off. This has the slightly unfortunate side effect of making it difficult to photograph, but fortunately, when you're actually using it, the display is easy to see. Had anyone removed a mirror like this before? Do you have any pictures so I can see how it is removed.

If your car has a screen, especially an aftermarket head unit, then your camera can be displayed on that. If you have an original (OEM) monitor, or none at all, you’ll likely need a separate monitor. Separate monitors might take the form of stand-alone items you can attach to your windshield or dash. Some of our favorites are integrated into a rear-view mirror. No Delay Stream Media Mirror Dash Cam】The Stream media technology transmits full 1080P footage without delay, recording the license plate and all crashes clearly. 9.35-inch full screen improves roughly four times greater field of vision than a traditional rearview mirror. Improve your driving experience. Replacing the rearview mirror is a cinch, thanks to the inclusion of four different adapters, which make use of the mounting base that is already in place. If these don't fit, Auto-Vox will provide a custom adapter free of charge. With the front facing attached to the rearview mirror, all that's left to do is to plug it in. As power comes from the fuse box, the V5 Pro can work without the engine being switched on. Auto-Vox V5 Pro review: CameraMy lighter plug is only powered when my vehicle is on. I turned it on and the mirror fired right up. It starts recording automatically by default, which is great. If you touch the screen, the controls show up. You cannot turn the camera OFF. If the camera gets dirty or malfunctions, there is no option to turn the camera off and use it like a regular mirror. There is an option for “Drivers Mode”. This turns the camera off, but it puts two large icons on the screen. One for direction and another for speed. That makes it not good for a regular mirror. Installing the rear camera can be a much more involved process than the front camera. But if you're not sure you want to get tied up in this process, it's also completely optional. You can always start with the front camera to get used to it and then add the rear camera later on. This is very often above the license plate, with a camera designed to fit into the plate mount. The alternatives are a universal mount that can be placed anywhere (perhaps even inside the rear window) or perhaps a brand-specific design.

Auto-Vox V5 Pro review | Top Ten Reviews

Great Rearview Mirror Camera, easy install, excellent image quality for day and night use. Takes some getting used to at first due to you seeing a wider angle than you are normally used to, As well you need to account for how close vehicles behind you really are. One positive point is if you adjust your side mirrors correctly there are zero blind spots regarding vehicles next to you. I placed the rear camera to the left of my plate. The rear-view camera can operate in low-light environments, and with IP68 grade weather protection shouldn’t struggle with the great outdoors. It does, however, have a narrower field of view than some, but this is a matter of taste; this also means it side-steps any fish-eye distortion. Take a look at thevillages.com for info on where we live. There are actually lots of UK folks with homes here! There is also a “driving mode” where the mirror functions as a regular mirror and your current speed is displayed with a digital image of a car. I didn’t see much value in that.

Choosing the right dash cam means shopping around and finding the one that has the features you need. It also means finding a reliable manufacturer you can trust. Auto-Vox is one such manufacturer. In the past, we’ve reviewed their Auto-Vox Aurora and Auto-Vox T1400 dash cam systems. Today, we’ll be reviewing their V5 Pro. Once you’ve mounted the camera, it’s time to plug it in. The V5 Pro is designed to plug directly into your fuse box, providing a constant source of power. This is a major upgrade over the original V5, which could only receive power while your vehicle was running. Make sure to follow the instructions exactly, and connect the “ACC” plug to an “ACC” fuse. This will allow it to keep running when your car is off, and will shut off power if your battery gets low. Other fuses will either not work while the car is off, or can drain your battery. Once the camera is connected in this fashion, it will automatically make a 30-second recording if it senses an impact. The rear camera will also record. This provides excellent protection when your vehicle is parked. The Auto-Vox V5 is already a great reversing & dash cam, but this ‘Pro’ option is designed to be fitted directly to a car’s fuse box so it really blends into the driving experience. 1080P video might not be the highest resolution available, but the Sony sensors capture good footage which is more than adequate for insurance evaluation. Assuming you supply the maximum 64GB SD card, that’ll record up to 72 hours, automatically recorded on a loop overwriting the older footage, and adding GPS geodata as it goes. If you’re hauling a big camper, you need to think about driver visibility, indicating the presence of the load, and – when you reach your destination –the safety of you and your possessions. The Vision S system is built to contribute in every aspect with a selection of cameras; not just the rear Sharkfin with 120-degree visibility but side cameras with 65-degree visibility and amber marker lights. These can be installed in place of existing lights, cutting down on installation effort – ideally at the front on either side to give a view of the blind spot. Finally, a doorway camera is included which affords a better view of visitors – welcome or otherwise. Instructions on how to set it up with the menu are poor. The descriptions of the options need to be better explained. Some make no sense. There may be something better online, but the manual is very poor.
