Description

The XDJ-RX3 is a versatile 2-channel all-in-one DJ system that offers both flexibility and practicality and includes a range of new features taken directly from the CDJ-3000 multi player and DJM-900NXS2 mixer, as well as a brand-new 10.1-inch touch screen with a higher resolution and frame rate than its predecessor. Basically what you have here is two CDJs minus the CD slots and a two-channel Pioneer mixer, so the set-up is very reminiscent of any Pioneer DJ booth set-up you can think of. That said, the XDJ-RX has the biggest nod towards DJ controllers yet from any Rekordbox gear (notably the performance “pads” underneath the DDJ-SX-style jogwheels, and of course that big screen). Thank you very much and sorry for writing so much. 1. I am just passionate about it as hell. 2. I am about to spend a lot of money on my new rig (used to have DDJ-SZ but sold it as I was moving 10000 kms) so wanna be sure I am making an informed decision. On paper at least, the XDJ-RX is the first controller from Pioneer that has convincing answers to some of the big shortcomings people roll out when it comes to software DJing – and I’m not referring to the detractors who won’t give it a go, but those of us who’ve done it for years and still see things about it that aren’t perfect. Setting up is a case of plugging in the power and your powered speakers, and adding a music source, typically a library of music prepared in Rekordbox and brought with you on USB. (You can also plug in an iOS or Android device via USB should you have Rekordbox-prepared music on that, or indeed – and a little confusingly if you’re new to all of this and trying to work out the difference between these systems! – a laptop that contains your Rekordbox library.)

I’ve had the unit for about a week now and its great, but this weekend I tested out the ‘hot-swappability’ of the unit in terms of standard flash (no rekordbox analysis), rekordbox flash, laptop via ProLink, AND Traktor, and these are my thoughts which I wrote elsewhere but wanted to share them here as they may help some in making a decision. There’s no doubt that the screen size was a big decision on Pioneer’s part, and a risky one at that. Some artists may love the larger screen space, but it’s a polarizing enough move that many may deter from it. The Pioneer XDJ-RX3 is a 2-channel, all-in-one DJ system crammed with new features, including the 10.1-inch touchscreen and Release FX. Alongside these new additions, selected features from the club-standard CDJ-3000 multi-player and DJM-900NXS2 mixer have been adopted, including an intuitive layout, browse section, Beat FX and Sound Colour FX.

Features

Natural audio: The new audio design of the circuit board ensures that your audience will enjoy music as it is meant to be heard, without any unwanted external noise.

This theme continues over to the mixer section, which now features 6 Sound Colour FX and 14 Beat FX. The additional FX bring the XDJ-RX3 performance capabilities closer to the DJM-900NXS2. While we’re on the subject of the industry standard mixer, the XDJ-RX3 has been sonically tuned to sound closer to the NXS2 mixer. This tuning has resulted in a warmer, well-rounded sound which has an analogue feel and is a less harsh than previous RX models. Tweaking the mixer to suit your needs is now far easier thanks to the improved utility menu which allows you to control fader curves and switch the EQ from the standard level of cut to isolator mode. The headphone monitoring section now has an additional cue button to make use of the Touch Preview function and the AUX input, which made its debut in the RX2, has been retained. The new features intended to improve the navigation flow and make for a faster browsing and searching process include: As far as the standalone mixer functionality in this: I understand that this mixer will be ‘digital’ as far as the architecture goes? Introducing the XDJ-RX3: With key features derived from Pioneer DJ's flagship gear. This upgraded all-in-one DJ system offers a 10.1-inch touch screen for effortless browsing and precise mixing. The XDJ-RX3 also includes 14 Beat FX and 6 Sound Color FX from the DJM-900NXS2, as well as Performance Pads and newly added Release FX for dynamic music manipulation. The new audio design eliminates external noise for clear, natural sound, and the system inherits layout design traits from club-standard Pioneer DJ equipment.

Release FX

I mean I used to have DDJ-SZ (only used it for very short time) and loved it but now I am thinking about getting: Other features Midi control Auto standby Will support control via the rekordbox app of features including Needle Search and XY Pad FX from June 2015 (wired connection only) Have the ability to learn at home, on this gear the rekordbox system/DJM CDJ club standard way of playing – so that when I go to DJ in a club I will not shit my pants 🙂

With a high-quality build and an intuitive club-standard layout, Pioneer's XDJ-RX2 controller is perfect for home use. It is ideal for those who are after a compact setup yet does not compromise on key professional features which enable you to transfer your skills to a club setup with ease. The precise EQ controls and smooth channel faders let you execute transitions with style and flair. Also, the channel fader and crossfader curves are of an equally high standard to those found on the DJM-900NXS2 mixer. Want to make every mix sound unique? Get creative with all 14 Beat FX and 6 Sound Color FX from the DJM-900NXS2 and explore fresh ways to dynamically manipulate your music with the Performance Pads and the newly added Release FX on the XDJ-RX3. The XDJ-RX’s four studio quality Sound Colour FX are inherited directly from the DJM-900NXS and feature a Lo/Hi Pass control for both channels: Noise, Gate/Comp, Crush and Filter. It also features eight of the most popular Beat FX and an improved wet/dry dial for even better control: Delay, Echo, Spiral, Reverb, Flanger, Pitch, Roll and Trans. The new 10.1-inch touchscreen is the largest display on any of the Pioneer DJ all-in-one DJ systems. In addition, it has a high resolution, more than on its predecessor, the RX2, which ensures everything is super clear to see. It also features an all-new interface that makes browsing music and controlling effects faster and more straightforward, including the intuitive navigation within the browse section, which has been selected from the CDJ-3000.XDJ-RX DJ Controller has two CDJ-style platters that have a similar club standard layout and gives Artists on-the-spot access to top performance features including Slip Mode, Beat Sync, loops and Quantized cues. The unit's performance pads add a physical element, with immediate access to Auto Beat Loops and Hot Cues, or DJs can select and slice loops live in the mix with RX's brand-new Loop Slice function. Be able to use DVS to control my MP3s on the laptop/screen built into DJ controller (while I slowly build my vinyl records library)
