But when she got too close to the truth, Caroline suddenly committed suicide, and Jack didn't believe a word of it. It is a thought-provoking journey where you’ll experience how your choices can lead to severe consequences. The final 40% of the book does pick up, but it seems so farfetched and out of character; then before there is any real conclusion, the book ends. Has enough action to make you forget about the canyon-sized plot holes, and Crowe is convincing as always. Enjoyed the Jon Reznick series but was delighted the author took a much different approach to this series opener: deeper, less superhero like, more fallible protagonist.

She continued, “You love Maddie so much that you won’t want anyone else to come along and challenge her status as the Fowler family’s heiress. Turner is a former journalist and the author of the Jon Reznick series of action thrillers ( Hard Road , Hard Kill , Hard Wired , Hard Way , Hard Fall , Hard Hit , Hard Shot , and Hard Vengeance ), the American Ghost series of black-ops thrillers ( Rogue , Reckoning , and Requiem ), and the Deborah Jones political thrillers ( Miami Requiem and Dark Waters ). Klein’s background in the industry provides him with plenty of material, and it’s often presented in a blackly humourous way that skewers both the industry and the individuals that work within it.An enjoyable enough thriller, that tapered off somewhat into a revenge saga and so only a three-star rating. Wendy Gould was an average mother - now she's the sole witness to the murder she's being framed for.

Now she’s forced to run from rogue Federal agents, back to her forgiving husband, until the agents follow her there. The plot was twisted and had no resolution - obviously a set up for the next book in the series, but there were better ways to do that. When the story opens, Jim has been clean for two years, but spent most of the previous decade drinking, taking meth and paying high-class prostitutes for sex.The bland, uninvolving story of Sipho, 12, who flees his drunken stepfather's brutality to live on the streets of Johannesburg. The protagonist of the novel, Jane, is a talented pianist who has been wrongly accused by the Fowler family of theft and betrayal.

In conclusion, “No Way Back” by Anna Mac is a powerful and engaging novel that will resonate with readers who enjoy stories about love, betrayal, and redemption. Caroline was an investigative journalist with access to the White House, but must have uncovered something that put her in grave danger. He ties up and severely beats the bartender, his daughter, and Edna, and shoots Edna dead after she bites his hand. Emma, the youngest daughter of the Fowler family, is a kind and compassionate woman who is often caught in her family’s conflicts.

Ex-detective Andee has swapped freelance investigation and a broken marriage, for two months in Provence, renovating a beautiful villa with the new man in her life. S. is the FBI, thus there is no threat of criminal prosecution just for turning leaked data over to the FBI. A small boy who overheard Hex questioning the men about his mother steps forward to say she was kidnapped by a group of Mexicans heading south. He then reveals that Hex's father destroyed his village when he was a child and he swore revenge on Hex's family. But after years of drinking and womanising, he has been given one last chance to save both his career and his marriage – he has seven weeks to transform a failing company.

Determined, tough and damaged, she must unravel a terrifying riddle of a killer kidnapping victims in pairs. NYPD Detective Jack McNeal was one of the good guys - the cop who investigated the crooked cops, putting them away. Familiar tropes – While it has unique elements to its plot and characters, it also employs some familiar tropes and themes, including the wrongful accusation and redemption arcs that may feel overly familiar to some readers. No Way Back is not perfect by any means, but I liked the character of Jack McNeal enough to carry on and read Long Way Home.

It is here that Laura, seeking peace and privacy after her marriage falls apart, rents a tiny studio. As written, the book is really three different yet related books in one: (1) the major crisis, (2) the victim on the run, and (3) the metamorphosis and series setup. Her home in Dorset, high on the cliffs overlooking the sea, is as elegant as Eva herself, but bears none of the scars.
