I loved the little poems at the start of each chapter; they gave such a good feel for this mountain community and its people. I was completely charmed by this culture and its people. Princess Academy” is truly an inspiring story that teaches people how to stand up for what you believe is right and to just be yourself, even if you are put through training to become a proper princess! If anyone wants a book about princesses, adventure, romance, and fierce determination, then this is the book for you!Hale was born on January 26, 1974, in Salt Lake City [1] to Wallace and Bonnie Bryner. [2] She is the middle child of five children; she has two older sisters, one younger sister, and one younger brother. [3] She enjoyed writing, reading, and acting as a young girl; she often created plays that she would act out with friends. She also began to write fantasy books at age 10, often featuring herself as the protagonist. [4] Her elementary school teachers encouraged her creative endeavors, [1] and, in the fourth grade, Hale announced that she wanted to be a writer as an adult. In junior high, she participated on the school literary magazine. She then attended West High School, where she cultivated passions for English and drama. [5] She took a creative writing class and worked as an editor of fiction for her high school's literary magazine. [1] She participated in both school and community theater productions, including The Secret Garden. Hale also took part in drama competitions and traveled throughout Utah and the U.S. with an improvisational theater group whose productions highlighted a range of teen issues. She met her spouse, Dean Hale, freshman year at West High School; [5] he was also involved in theater. [6] Hale has said that her theater experience has improved her writing skills, particularly in character creation and world building. [1] The Books of Bayern". Kids Book Series. The story is also disarmingly simple in its style - the prose has that lovely, unburdened quality that's usual in YA and Children's fiction - no fancy adjectives, no heavy-handed descriptions, no long-winded paragraphs: light on its feet, detailed and yet deceptively straight-forward. Perfect for its target age group (9-12) but just as enjoyable for the rest of us. Hunter, Sarah (July 2017). "Top 10 Graphic Novels for Youth: 2017". Booklist. The culture of the mountain village and the kingdom as a whole was not developed enough - there was a lot of good potential here. On the other hand...

In a year's time, the prince will choose his bride from among the village girls. Notable Children's Books". Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) . Retrieved 2020-04-20. This is a powerful message to me, especially for young readers who may or may not question the history that they are taught in school, or think about how power structures and control of knowledge/propaganda shape opportunity. In The Forgotten Sisters, this is seen with respect to gender, and silencing women. This series is so wonderful for so many reasons that I can't possibly get to them all, and I think The Forgotten Sisters is a fantastic final book for the trilogy. It maintains the same sweet and rustic feel that Princess Academy in particular had while the characters explore how to survive in a world that is suddenly much bigger than one mountain or one swamp. I love the theme of redemption in The Forgotten Sisters and how it applies to just about everyone from members of the royal family to bandits. This series is truly special, and I recommend that everyone give it a try! a b Brady, Meagan (February 2014). "Shannon Hale". mormonartist.net. Mormon Artist. bio-No one can even tall she is a princess with her quiet small shy atittude. She doesn't really like to talk to other people because they find out her little secrect but now she is here and everyone will know she wishes she could just go tot the witch school because that would be better. Looking like one most princesses don't talk to her and she hangs with some witches every now and then. Mostly she is in the music room playing some insstrument because she can about play them all like a pro. Her best is Volia and Cello but she excells in everyone. Soon Miri finds herself confronted with a harsh academy mistress, bitter competition among the girls, and her own conflicting desires. Winning the contest could give her everything she ever wanted--but it would mean leaving her home and family behind.

Did we miss something on diversity?

The trumpets sound from the village and Miri—along with her best friend and secret crush, Peder—runs over to see what's going on. They find out that the high priests of Danland have declared that the next princess will come from Mount Eskel (their territory), and that all girls ages twelve to seventeen are required to attend a princess academy for the next year so that they can learn fine manners and be ready for the prince's selection in a year's time.
