The reason as to why I gave the book 3 stars is that even though it was hilarious, I just didn’t relate to it whatsoever as I don’t have children. On Sunday, I was in my car, stuck at this red light for five minutes, and people were honking at me to jump the light. I was a huge fan of the podcast - saved me during a rough time when I had a lot of self doubt as a new parent. But overall a great feel of the music, politics, sport and most importantly shows that I grew up with. Having entered the stand-up circuit in 2008, Josh’s rapid rise has seen him star in 26 series of the multi award-winning Channel 4 series The Last Leg, as well as co-hosting Dave’s Broadcast Award nominated Hypothetical, and now 2023 marks the release of brand-new Sky Max series Hold the Front Page with co-star Nish Kumar.

It's the same with The Last Leg [the Channel 4 series he co-presents with Adam Hills and Alex Brooker]. If you are a regular listener you will have heard a lot of the stuff before, and to be fair, I’m not sure I’m that interested in the early years of them becoming parents. We’ve been locked down since November, then Lou had to shield for two or three months and that was really hard. He is married to Rose Hanson, a television producer, with whom he has a daughter, Pearl, born in October 2017, and a son, Cassius, born in May 2021. It probably is quite amusing for a 20-something gal who wants to be childless forever to be so entertained and attached to a podcast (and subsequent book) about parenting.Widdicombe reflects that "fatherhood has totally changed my lifestyle", adding: "I don't really want to go out any more. Filled with all the things they never tell you at antenatal classes, Parenting Hell is a beguiling mixture of humour, rumination and conversation for prospective parents, new parents, old parents and never-to-be parents alike.

As Widdicombe says: “The show talked about disability in a way that was shocking, exciting and totally needed. Channel 4’s Tokyo coverage boasts the largest number of disabled presenters ever seen on British TV, comprising 70% of on-camera personnel. Josh co-hosts the hugely popular podcast Parenting Hell with fellow comedian Rob Beckett, which they will be taking on the road in 2023 to arenas up and down the country. I love the honesty about the difficultly of parenting and keeping your entire life together as well as sharing the exciting and wholesome moments.Even so, it feels like the publisher has warned Widdecombe off from saying anything too contentious or interesting lest it spoil his every man image. His latest stand-up tour Bit Much… culminated in a night at the iconic London Palladium, and aired on Channel 4 in summer 2022.

saw the release of Josh’s first book, a childhood memoir about growing up watching far too much TV in the 1990s.The comedy pair have also written the eponymous tie-in book based on the podcast, which is currently atop the Sunday Times' Best-Seller chart.
