About this deal

I never ran into any distinct discomfort, however I noticed the plastic frame created a rather loud echo noise at the slightest bump, whether on the band or headphones. However, they don't clamp onto your head very hard, so they can slip out of place if you tilt or move your head and are likely to fall off if you make more intense movements. In Rocket League, the heavily electronic soundtrack had a nice, clear thump to it in the menus, while every shot and explosive goal rang through cleanly in the midst of the frantic battles.

On the other hand, the A10 gives you a gaming experience without delay, and their microphone is noticeably better than the wireless A20. The Astro A10 is one of the last headsets to be released while under the ownership of Skullcandy, and this time it's a more budget-friendly headset aimed towards the PC, Xbone, PS4, Mac, and Mobile. The SteelSeries are also Bluetooth-compatible, which means you can stream music from your phone while playing on consoles. The A50 are more comfortable, better built, and have a more accurate out-of-the-box audio reproduction.

I could've used a pinch more bass at times, and given the stereo approach, the sound space can feel a bit confined. That said, if you don't mind the design or if you work in a quiet place, they have a comfortable and well-built design. It’s little, and a bit stiff…but somehow it manages to balance the impressive girth of the headset just right on my head. However, the mid-treble is more neutral, so sibilants, like S and T sounds, are bright but not piercing. Right now some third-party, cross-platform games allow native voice chat using the Nintendo Switch’s 3.

I’ve reviewed dozens of headsets over the years and let me tell you: No button compares to the ease of simply pushing a microphone out of your face when you want to mute it. These headphones have middling peaks and dips performance, meaning they can't control the sound they want to achieve. Unlike most gaming headsets, this doesn’t over-emphasize bass range sounds, so the deep rumblings of explosions won’t come across louder than they should and drown out any more sound than appropriate. If you’re serious about podcasting or general content creation, we recommend getting a dedicated USB microphone.

These bulky headphones aren't very portable, have bad noise isolation performance, and their boom mic isn't detachable for a casual look. The mids have just a touch of hollowness to them, but nowhere near the level I was honestly expecting. Unfortunately, they also don't block out the low rumble of bus engines, and they leak audio at high volumes, which can annoy others around you. It's hardly ugly, but it's a lot simpler and more spartan in design than its siblings, lacking the cool cutouts and coloring of the pricier models. They seem very durable, and if a younger (or particularly angry) gamer uses them, they should be able to withstand the inevitable rough handling. The PlayStation 5 offers simulated spatial audio for any headset connected to a DualSense controller, and that includes the A10. I guess that shouldn’t surprise me since that’s what other reviewers have said and shown, but it still did. Unfortunately, you can’t use the headset wired, so you need to keep it charged, which you don’t have to do with the wired A10. They’re accurate enough to not horribly offend audiophiles, but they’re very clearly tuned to be fun to listen to.
