Bought this to replace a ten year old Berghaus which was badly frayed around the pockets due to Velcro used in earlier design. Whether hiking up Catbells peak or walking along the Northumberland coast the Mens Cornice III GORE-TEX Walking Jacket is a true tried and tested Berghaus waterproof jacket.

I originally bought this jacket as my Paramo gear is much too warm for summer dog walking however I am more than happy to wear it for a day in the hills. The Cornice was first introduced in 1993 and since then, come wind, rain or shine, it has been the jacket of choice for walkers.This classic GORE-TEX® waterpoof hilwalking jacket from Berghaus has been popular ever since it was first released in 1993. I walk regularly in the Lewis and Harris hills of the Western Isles which is probably the windiest and wettest corner of the UK.

Complete with an adjustable roll-away hood and a knit lined collar, both comfort and protection are provided, no matter the conditions. Only worn once in a heavy down pour and was totally waterproof, will need to wear all day in rain to test it properly. The jacket has performed well in all conditions and the entire jacket is still intact, no leaks and still very comfortable. I bought this jacket for its advertised breath-ability and in that respect on the 3 occasions that I have worn it I have been distinctly unimpressed.
