About this deal

If that is the case then there's no way I'll be able to neatly get a cable from the CU to the front door.

Some mention that it does the job, looks good, and works fine with wired ring doorbell, while others say that it's too expensive and won't work.

To be fitted in a consumer unit, you would mount it at the end of the DIN rail with a shortened busbar and provide a feed using independant wires via the mcb previously mentioned.

Would the best practice to be to have an additional CU with a mains switch (so its possible to isolate if required), then wire this from one of the 6A lighting MCBs (since the ring pro will be drawing little current)? Moreover, regarding temperature testing it says “Temperatures are determined during a cyclic test of 20 cycles, each cycle consisting of 1 min operation with the simulated full load and 5 min operation with a load of 20% of the simulated full load. I installed a transformer by my consumer unit that is 24v / 500mA DC, but Ring are saying this isn't correct and i need an AC transformer plus the separate power pack which i think converts from AC to DC). When it comes time to change to a hardwired Ring device then I'll need to replace the bell box with a Ring transformer that'll step down to 24v and then place this in some suitable housing.Your best bet is to plump for the Rong Pro2 doorbell now and go for the hardwired option, as installation would be like for like to a registered sparky. We are one of the largest independent electrical wholesalers in the West Midlands, with distribution centres in Leicester, London, Manchester and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

The reference standard EN 61558-2-8 does not specify a specific time but states “Bell and chime transformers are generally intended to supply domestic sound signalling equipment and other similar devices where the load is applied for short periods of time. We then had the new Ring transformer fitted (at the same time as a Ring doorbell), and it solves the noise problem. It may be worth avoiding having a bellbox completely as it will not be used once you have the Ring Doorbell (+Chime).Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). There are reviews that criticise it for not being compatible with the standard consumer unit busbar. You have 30 days from the date you received your device(s) to request a full refund with no questions asked. This transformer is very easy to install if you know how to wire your consumer unit box, but I recommend using a qualified electrician if you're not familiar with consumer units. this way i think the 24VAC will be protected by the RCD and MCB in the main consumer unit, and can be isolated by the switch in the additional CU if required.I have a Ring Pro Hardwired doorbell, and am having a devil of a job sourcing an appropriate transformer for it.
