About this deal

And the cycle goes around and around, getting tighter and tighter, more and more ingrained in society, until we don't even know it's happening. He fell in love with Ever when he first met her, after he and his wife (Drina Magdalena Augusta) separated. Stunningly handsome, clever and not a little bit intimidating, there’s something about him that doesn’t quite add up.

Alyson Noël created a well-detailed story that makes it easy for the reader to visualize both the characters and the world around them. If this novel had turned out to be a clunky read, I would have tossed it unfinished; but, upon completion I got the satisfaction of having made it to the end, and it was, superficially, a pleasant story. But this is a testament to the world Sara created and all I can say is that it was a straight up beautiful finale. I feel like Jules’ journey to self-discovery is a journey that all of us are currently on, and it makes us able to relate to her. Besides the book being kind of dystopian, with Fae and magical creatures and a boarding school setting, this book has trials.

It throws a whole new issue into the mix and I really cannot wait to see how Summer is going to get herself out of this one. And what was Damen doing BOTH times Ever (the supposed love of his life) was fighting for her life against his wife? The book starts off OK - mind-reading, auras, family drama, but very swiftly becomes just another pathetic Twilight rip-off. Summer is anything but a cool and calm personality and with the introduction of the Spring Court Prince, she’s a lovely ball of wrath and seething anger. Please also remember that she probably should be a reader, preferably of Wuthering Heights or Romeo and Juliet and that she should consider everyone around her to have inferior intelligence despite the fact that her reading repertoire extends to only a couple of books.

I read this one in just two evenings and it was just what I needed to get a little “break” from the intensity of the Outlander series I’ve been involved in. Ever realises he's hiding something, but nothing could prepare her for the truth - especially when the truth involves past lives, murderous enemies, everlasting love and the secret of eternal youth.

Certain things in the book hinted at the whole vampire vibe, that being a red (mysterious) drink, which leads to incredible speed and never getting ill. But she has just learned the truth: She is the Alchemist, and Caro – a woman who single-handedly murdered the Queen and Jules’s first love, Roan, in cold blood – is the Sorceress. Damen is not even a vampire (even though he doesn’t eat anything, but does drink some red liquid and drink her friend’s blood- how silly of Ever to come to that conclusion!
