About this deal

OTOH I have used my last pair of quality full leather boots for 10 years and north of 1500km of hiking, at least half of it in difficult terrain and with a heavy (15kg+ load). The car boot liner can be supplied as either 1 piece with the floor and sides all bound together or 4 pieces, so they are separate, this allows you the freedom to add and remove pieces easily. Not only do they make the boots they will also put on the extra thick sole that I require at the factory.

On other sites you will find the opposite, people who always hiked in shoes and now swear by boots – different strokes for different folks. I’ve read through all your posts but I’m still very undecided because I’m trying to get a warm chelsea boot that’s good on snow and ice.The only downside is that because the leather upper comes all the way down to the flat sole they can take scuffs sooner than if that part was covered with outsole material. The outsoles on Be Lenka boots are also more durable/slip resistant than a lot of other barefoot brands. The problems with rubber are that it does get a bit sweaty and clammy inside the boot and rubber probably isn't as strong as leather. Also off trail on Dartmoor I've found mine to be no worse than traditional leather boots, which also let water in if you step in something too deep (above the level of the tongue sides).

for the great majority of users, Gore-Tex boot liners fail anyway, and sooner rather than later if any real mileage is being covered. My two beefs with this boot are that the sole is pretty stiff for a barefoot boot and they are slippery on ice (but great on snow). They probably won’t suite someone with an extra wide toe splay, and you might want to size up one because of the thick lining. The Shapen Cozy is so light and soft, they are perfect for someone who has sensitive feet that get irritated by stiff heel cups. The Alpines come waterproof, but with lots of wear will likely start to get water seepage (it’s inevitable in waterproof shoes).I had purchased a pair of the Magical Shoes boots, but i found that the wool lining really irritated my skin so much even with socks. Example: In my area, the recent temperatures have been fluctuating between 20 to 40F (-6 to 4C), and it will only be getting colder. I have a pair of Goretex lined shoes on as I type, by the end of the day my feet will be hot sweaty and smelly. They are an excellent cozy barefoot boot for cold winter days, especially if you are someone who wants a true barefoot feel.
