About this deal

My son's Daddy suggested this book as he grew up with it and our little boy loves it just as much as he did! The funny thing about reviewing toddler books is that you could easily use more words in the review than there are in the book itself! She began to work as a freelance illustrator and collaborated with author Eve Sutton on My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes. When Hairy Maclary bounces and pounces his way into the cat show, his flustering and blustering bring a very unexpected result .

He is the protagonist in twelve books in the series, and there are a further nine books about his friends. Lynley Dodd is an award-winning author/illustrator enormously popular for her rhyming stories of the memorable Hairy Maclary, Slinky Malinki, Schnitzel Von Krumm - and many others! The immensely popular Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy is now available as an interactive KIWA Book with wonderful narration by David Tennant (Good Omens, Doctor Who). They generally involve Hairy and his friends in adventurous scenarios pitched against local cats, often with an implication that the cats are more cunning. Each dog has it's own rhyming couplet (eg, Hairy Maclary, from Donaldson's Dairy - Hercules Morse, as big as a horse) and as each extra dog joins we start the cumulative list again from the top, in the same way as There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly. Join Hairy Maclary and his friends on their first ever adventure in this golden 40th anniversary edition of the beloved rhyming classic! Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy is the first in the classic children’s series, originally published over 30 years ago. But like most bullies, Scarface turns out to be not quite as tough as everybody thinks - in fact, he's scared of his own reflection!

Seems kinda cheap to use children's books on my Goodreads book challenge, but quickly frankly I've read these books so many times I think its counts the same as a novel! He feels mischievous and mad and not only does he scamper away but all his friends - Bottomley Potts, Muffin McLay, Hercules Morse, Schnitzel von Krumm and the rest follow "Galloping here, galloping there, rollicking, frolicking everywhere"! For the more cat minded reader Lynley Dodd has written several excellent stories about Slinky Malinki which are equally brilliant and the various cat and dog characters meet each other in some of the books. In this introductory book in the HAIRY MACLARY series, all the pooches-from big-as-a-horse Hercules Morse to Schnitzel von Krumm with the very low tum-meet their feline match. The one we've read most so far is Hairy Maclary and Zachary Quack, but we just found Hairy Maclary's Caterwaul Caper and I think that might overtake it - Monty loves all the different dog barks in that one and has started shouting out "bow wow wow! But when they suddenly find themselves face-to-face with Scarface Claw - the toughest Tom in town - it's time to run all the way back home!

The character Hairy Maclary made his first appearance in 1983 in the book titled Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. The animals in this series, unlike the creatures of Beatrix Potter's stories, are not given human thoughts and motives, their actions tell the stories, and reflect their animal natures. Repetitive rhyming book for kids, originally published in the 1980's - but, the book seems to have a nostalgic feel to it - I honestly thought it was from the forties or fifties. Like most of Dodd's books, it is written in anapaestic verse, though it breaks into a more urgent trochaic form when the dogs encounter the cat. It’s a cushioned board back that won’t scratch if your munchkin decides to give it a good doggy chew.Hairy Maclary causes trouble again when he is simply not in the mood for the Kennel Club's Obedience Class. As Hairy Maclary dozily dreams and lies on his back ZIP round the corner comes Zackary Quack - and HE wants to play! Join Hairy Maclary and his friends on their first ever adventure in this golden 40th anniversary edition of the beloved . The breeds of dogs, the types of houses and the plants growing in each garden can generally be identified.

What attracted me was they were in a delightfully designed, perfectly fitting, canvas bag by Lynley Dodd with the Puffin Logo on it and as a collector of everything related to Penguin and Puffin books, I just had to have it! Decir que estos libros están preparados para enseñar a leer a los niños de habla inglesa: el adulto lee la historia una y otra vez y el niño memoriza la imagen de cada palabra; por eso es importante el ritmo y la repetición.The animals in this series, unlike the creatures of Beatrix Potter's stories, are not given human thoughts and motives. Exuberant artwork and bouncy rhymes come together perfectly in books like Slinky Malinki and Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy.
