About this deal

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Missed this when it was on TV so when I saw the dvd was available I wanted to watch it and I have not been disappointed at all.

It's the day of Terry's cousin Ivy's wedding, and he has been volunteered by her mother Mavis to host the wedding reception, without letting him know in advance. It's a very funny series, I hadn't seen a single episode, but stumbled on it by accident, I've binge watched most of it, I found it very original, funny, and way ahead of its time. Terry discovers that the Crispins have been allowed to join his local Bowls club, so he decides to take up Golf instead. Also features Deryck Guyler as a ticket inspector, Fred Emney as Lord Popham, Judith Furse as his wife, Lady Popham, Frank Williams as an army officer, and John Junkin as a soldier. Mr Crispin is a loud mouth who thinks violence will solve a problem, Mrs Crispin is a snob and their daughter Norma is constantly chased after by men.One evening whilst Terry and his mother are away at a dinner party over at the Wormwolds, he invites Norma's Jazz group, the Tooting Trad Type over, so they can practise in the living room.

It's a shame that at least the two existing episodes from later series that the BBC hold* haven't been included, (3/7; Escort Duty and 5/3; It Never Rains, along with the extant 1964 Christmas Night With The Stars sketch), but well done Simply for getting these twenty episodes out. It's their annual holiday and Hugh was looking forwards to Mrs Crabthorne's guest house at Brighton as usual but Terry has booked them grouse hunting in Scotland. Ethel Crispin suggests they should get "Slocombe's" (Mollie Sugden, who played Ethel, would later play Mrs Slocombe in Are You Being Served? The last Church Fete was a disaster so Terry takes charge as usual and decides on a Pageant of History, with the cast portraying all the important events from 1066 onwards. The two actors had previously worked together on stage for many years, which created a comic rapport between them.

Episodes: Fully Incomprehensive; A Brace of Peasants; Here Comes the Bride; Royal Visit; A Fete Worse Than Death; A Dog’s Life; Putting On the Ritz; Love Thy Neighbour; Lost Property; Trad Fad Lloyd; Wedding Bells; April in Paris; Prison Visitor; The 19th Hole; Turn for the Nurse; Where There’s a Will; A Sink of Iniquity; Holding the Baby; The Root of All Evil and A Place in the Sun. When that convict escapes a few weeks later, he comes to Terry's house armed with a gun and takes them all hostage. Lobelia Avenue, Tooting, was the home of Mrs Scott (Vi Stevens), her troublesome, unemployed son Terry (Terry Scott), and their lodger Hugh (Hugh Lloyd), a worker at a local aircraft factory.

This sitcom sees the unlikely twosome encounter all sorts of scrapes and mishaps as bully boy Terry pursues wealth and glory, with the kind but dim-witted Hugh trailing along behind. Lost episodes of classic Eric Sykes and Terry Scott sitcoms discovers : News 2023 : Chortle : The UK Comedy Guide".episodes were produced over 6 series, as well as two short special episodes as part of the BBC's Christmas Night with the Stars programme in 1963 and 1964 respectively. Thanks to his mother, they meet him at the very expensive Ritz restaurant where he and Hugh upset the posh air of the place.
