Each time a unit makes a Dark Pact, after it has resolved its attacks, it must take a Leadership test; if that test is failed, that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds.While it may be one of the weaker character novels from Black Library, Huron Blackheart: Master of the Maelstrom still has a lot to offer, especially for those interested in keeping up with the current state of affairs in the Imperium, and in its archenemy. While not a fervent follower of Chaos himself, Huron nonetheless pays homage to the Ruinous Powers as a way to further his own power.His Chapter, the Astral Claws, had sworn to fight to the death protecting their Chapter Master and their world, but when they saw that Badab was lost, they seized Huron's body and fought their way past the Imperial blockade in a handful of voidships.

Perhaps most famous of these was what was known as his Armour of Pride -- a heavily customised suit of Indomitus Pattern Terminator Armour adapted and augmented for him by the Astral Claws' Master Artificer Armenneus Valthex.But while the Warmaster and the reborn Primarch wage their endless war, Blackheart gathers marauders for his own cause. After brutal fighting, Jubal Khan and his honour guard reached Seethnar's heart and caused catastrophic damage to its plasma reactors, but become trapped by collapsing corridors. The clashing entitlement of the Administratum's Imperial tithe and the ancient rights of Adeptus Astartes commanders to defend the Imperium by any means necessary swiftly came to be known as the "Badab Schism" and would last for more than a standard century and a half, during which time the Astral Claws and the Maelstrom Warders would continue to carry on military operations as usual, against a volatile backdrop of worsening tensions with the Administratum and segmentum authorities.

Updated rules for Huron were printed in Codex: Chaos Space Marines (4th Edition), with an accompanying model. Admittedly it's not my favourite of his - it's not as brilliantly enlightening as Head of the Hydra, nor as fresh a ground as Brutal Kunnin`.From the populations of dank slave worlds and rust-filled void stations he took flesh and muscle to labour in his holds. That destroyed model can fight after the attacking model’s unit has finished making its attacks, and is then removed from play. It's engaging beginning to end, and displays very well the constant power plays a character such as Huron needs to engage in to survive.
