About this deal

It is a perfect choice for use in cold climates and being removable, can be taken off in the hot summer months where thermal protection is unnecessary. At first I thought this might be because I got the sizing wrong but I got my friend (who is 2 sizes smaller than me) to try and she had the same issue.

They’re designed to make your feet and ankles do the work they’re supposed to do, and I kinda like that. The Magna Trail II Firm Ground is for adventure travelling, city living and hiking, made for trails and trailblazers. Whether you're on the trails or on the streets, our Magna Trail II FG is all about feeling, not following. And because of the sock-fit at the ankle you can actually afford to go as deep as you dare right up to the ankle cuff. If you’re taking on more technical multi-day hikes that are likely to be on muddy and challenging terrain, you may want to opt for something with better grip and more protection. While they’ll be a bit hot for wearing indoors at the club if you move and dance a lot, they’re perfect for a night out in the winter. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page. The sole features low-profile, chevron lugs that provide traction over trails and rocky terrains - perfect for exploring any rural or urban habitat. I’d definitely spring for the Magna Trail leather and wool variety if I had to choose again, however these are just fine. With the Magna Forest ESC, I find the 46 fit comfortably only if I take out the insole when wearing (medium weight) merino socks – otherwise they are too tight on the top and sides, though my toes have plenty of forward room.

The all-black makes these great to outfit with your everyday, active or outdoor clothes, fit for any occasion with the barefoot and tread performance. There’s also a Magna II made of wild hide leather and merino wool liner, while the Magna Trail Forest ESC has a Michelin outsole if you’re leaning towards more outdoor exploration. Leading up to my first wear of these I’d been running in zero-drop trail runners (totally flat across the whole sole). So, whilst we believe the shoes are vegan, we’re not yet able to guarantee it and want to be fully transparent. The sole is fairly thin, and on rocky/gravelly trails I can feel the ground a little too much for my liking.

Hard-wearing, lightweight and waterproof, the Tracker II FG lets you tackle any terrain while reconnecting you to nature. By far the most extensive analysis of the nylon Magna I’ve found so far — and the comparison with the leather and wool version is much appreciated. Been thinking a lot about that lately, but seems like Vivo is heading in the right direction with the recycled version! The eyelets seem to have worn down on them a lot and while they still work, after 4 months of frequent use I can’t help but think that’s a weak point. On the Firm Ground outsole with a 3mm lug that is zero drop, thin and flexible but provides good traction over trails and rocky landscapes. Removeable liner aids in drying and enables you to adapt the liner depending on activity level and temperature.

Plus, there is a rubber toe protector on the outside of the shoes — a nice addition to make your feet feel a little more protected in the minimalist shoes. However, I found that the laces on the Magna Trail lineup have frayed and become destroyed rather quickly, and I reckon this will happen to the Magna Forest ESC as they seem identical. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. As a result, the Tracker Forest is even better for cold-weather hiking and activities, while the Magna Forest is a little more versatile in the temperature range and activities it can accommodate. Though only thin, the outsole has a puncture resistant layer that is 5 times more resistant than standard soles of the same thickness. They aren’t too hot by any means, but for hiking and such in the summer (or above 15°C) I would much prefer a lighter, more breathable shoe.
