About this deal

I loved the camaraderie, the sense of togetherness they have, facing each new crisis with either a laugh and a joke or drying tears over a soothing cup of tea. I found myself walking through the Buckingham Hotel and taking a turn on the beautiful ballroom dance floor in the arms of Mr De Guise. In 2020, he reprised his role as a judge for weeks four and five to fill in for Motsi Mabuse who needed to quarantine after travelling to Germany. Overall I have enjoyed this series and I have already bought the next book from this author for his next series. A sweeping tale of love and courage against the backdrop of World War II, from Sunday Times bestselling author and King of the Ballroom, Anton Du Beke.

Erin and I are absolutely thrilled to be back in January 2022 with our brand new production ‘ Showtime‘, celebrating some of the very greatest icons in show business! My only criticism would be that it might be difficult to read this as a stand-alone novel, you really have to read the whole series to get the best understanding of the characters and their relationships. All of that sort of stuff that I’ve learned over the years has all gone into the series of novels, and this one here is set during the Blitz. In Week nine, Du Beke received his first 10s in all seventeen series for their American Smooth; the couple received a total of fifteen 10s during the series.

Lots of plot twists and all set against a hotel background, exploring the difficulties of running a luxury venue in an era of rations and shortages. His debut album reached the Top 20, and his annual sell-out tours have been thrilling dance fans in theatres nationwide for over a decade. Unfortunately I was only able to give this book 3 stars because it was edited so badly that I almost couldn't read it. This book was just magical, it transports you to 1940s London in the time of the blitz and how the show must go on at the Buckingham Hotel.

Whilst it may sound a little like a finalé, I’m sure our characters wouldn’t give me a moment’s peace if I didn’t continue telling their stories, especially with war drawing ever closer and lives set to change in so many ways… Here’s another spoiler: there’s still more to come! His attention to detail was impeccable, he does an amazing job of capturing what the Buckingham Hotel and World War II was like during those times. Raymond de Guise, home on leave and still affected by the death of his brother, is desperate to help so he joins a night watch. It was a great page turning and it was such a lovely feeling catching up with all our favourite characters again. So even with the spectre of loss and death hanging over one and all coupled with the shady shenanigans taking place amongst the management team of the hotel, somehow The Buckingham carries on regardless.

Raymond and Nancy were the romantic leads but the books dealt with drug abuse and poverty and fascism which the country faced at the time. I know Anton has got so much glittering scandal and romance planned for this series, against the backdrop and drama of the historical events of the late 1930s – not to mention, plenty more action on the dancefloor. Newlywed Nancy knows that her brave husband, debonair dancer Raymond de Guise will want to fight for his country and enlist. The characterisations are so well written and draw you into the story, difficult to put the book down.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
