About this deal

The full-size Benefit Roller Lash Curling Mascara retails for RM115 and can be found in Benefit boutiques and counters. This is more an observation than a complaint though; frankly, I don’t believe any mascara delivers quite the same eyes-wide effect that the extra deployment of an eyelash curler brings!

On those days where my eyes need a little extra oomph, I’ll definitely be reaching for some added curl power! Being a natural redhead myself I have quite fair lashes, so it’s important for me to get right down to the base when applying mascara, which Roller Lash does perfectly. I’m really quite selective when it comes to mascara, often feeling that I’m having to pump way too many times to see any type of effect take hold on my lashes. However Benefit have outdone themselves with Roller Lash, making an all new mascara to cater for all the people who weren’t too impressed by They’re Real.I think the only thing I wouldn't like about the maybelline one is that it's a little bit bigger (I really like the fact the roller lash is so thin) but I could probably work with it! Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara has an eye opening “Hook ‘n’ Roll” brush which is meant to grab, separate, curl and set. I also love that it does all the above whilst still feeling about as lightweight as mascaras come (possibly because it’s not like those iron-clad waterproof varieties?

While I wanted to keep it for traveling days, I couldn't contain my excitement to try it out as soon as the mascara I was using ran out. One other interesting thing to note with this mascara is that the expiration date is 6 months after purchasing. Unfortunately though I did experience smudging/blobbing on my socket bone, this happens every time I wear the mascara, it isn't a lot but it still smudges or blobs and you can see it, if I wear dark make up it isn't as obvious but it is still there. One of the main reasons Benefit made Roller Lash was because of the complaints about how hard They’re Real is to remove. But with crazy-sensitive eyes that tear up at the merest suggestion of the music from Up (the other day I even cried about how cute a dog on Instagram was), I very rarely wear the stuff. I was asked by a lot of my you tube subscribers and blog readers if I would pick up the roller lash and try it out and review it, so I did do and I have been using it for around 3-4 weeks now.

The idea of this mascara is that you don’t need to use an eyelash curler with it as it does all the work for you. The formula is similar to they’re real – as in it shares its inky black pigmentation and 12 hour lasting ability but I believe the consistency is slightly thinner so that the lashes are not weighed down so they stay curled up. Oh and by the way, I’ve always been told 3 months for longevity of mascara too, that’s pretty neat that this one is longer!

The purpose behind the wand is that it grabs, lifts, separates, curls, boosts, amps up, you get the idea – every single lash. I think the fact that Benefit released a free version with Elle magazine before the official release just goes to show how confident they are in this product and how amazingly well it works. I strongly recommend picking up this month’s Elle magazine to get your free sample and check it out.

The wand has slight curve to it and is packed with plastic bristles/spikes - longer on the top (as you may be able to see) gradually reducing in size towards the underneath - almost like rows and rows of tiny canine teeth! The curve of the brush fits my eyelid perfectly top and bottom, I use the shorter bristles underneath the wand to apply the mascara and the longer ones on top to comb through then turn the wand over for the lower lashes. Tip when using this: use the flat side for the base of the lashes and the curved side for the ends of the lashes, it really opens your eyes and keeps the curl in place!Note: I try not to have a few tubes of mascaras opened at the same time as they dry out really fast upon usage. I have long, long lashes but they are stick straight and require much curling to get them to peep up. I’m still on the fence but I would probably prefer They’re Real for everyday wear, and Roller Lash for when I’m getting more done up. There is a guard inside the tube to make sure that there isn’t too much mascara on the brush which saves waste and means that your lashes aren’t overloaded. Katie, I have not seen this mascara yet- it looks very interesting and I can see that the results look fabulous on you!
