About this deal
Seriously, if the author sees this-You have an immense talent for portraying emotion in your stories! I'm hoping now that the bulk of world and character building is out of the way it will be a bit more interesting.
while some of the story lines i felt like went on for a while, the continuation of conflicts made it not drag in a boring way. I loved how the characters grew and you can understand their behaviours and actions, how each of them did what they did when you learn more throughout the story.I could go on and on about how brilliantly this book was written, but I’ll wrap this up with the most simple, straightforward point- I love this book! He studied me for a moment before he started kissing my stomach, dragging his tongue over me between kisses. Instead, we get: Emmeline and Rainier half naked, clinging to each other, and smooching in front of a decent sized group of soldiers. I was so enthralled with this entire book and pretty much binged it since I didn’t want to put it down. The lack of genuine obstacles seemed to be filled with Emmeline's thoughts about everything and everyone, including fish. I found myself not caring about her sister's death or any of the tragic background because it was just a giant info dump.
The relationship between Emma and Rain is lovely, I was sobbing more than once and while I got slightly irritated by Emma’s indecision at times it actually made perfect sense considering their history and the reality of their current lives. Rain is the perfect compliment to her, pushing her when she needs to and helping her come in to her own powers. Emmeline believes that her daughter, Elora, is the Beloved—the conduit with goddess-granted divine abilities prophesied to bring peace to the Three Kingdoms. It's stunning how much of this book is comprised of angsty internal monologue and princess'ing by a 30-something mother. Let me start by saying that there is absolutely no way that I could have possibly guessed that this was her first novel.
