About this deal

Thriving offers advice and inspiration for living your best life illustrated in vibrant color by beloved artist Bodil Jane. Seasoned readers, first-timers, those in a slump, we recommend based on what we think they would like. Drawing on her experiences as a social worker, education consultant, and individual with autism, she provides the “why” of learning challenges along with the “how” of responding to them.

To use a medical metaphor, the movement toward thriving is not a drug cure for a particular disease but rather the necessary shift to a healthy lifestyle. Offering comprehensive, accessible advice on all aspects of ensuring that your life abroad will be as successful and happy as possible, it will prompt you to consider and discuss the many important decisions to be made that can often be rushed or overlooked in the excitement and chaos that international relocation can bring. These were solvable problems, we believed, and the world’s political leaders were finally taking notice. It guides and inspires employees and their partners who are relocating internationally for work through a three-part framework designed to create personal and professional success abroad. He has been recognized by Trust Across America as one of the world’s top 100 thought leaders in trustworthy business and named a top-100 sustainability leader by ABC Carbon. Many universities around the world are seeing how they can use theories of positive psychology to help students cope well with the ever-increasing stresses of modern-day life and university. Read the book to learn how you can develop the five powers for success in a world of exponential information: Purpose, Framing, Filtering, Attention, and Synthesis. That may be having a baby queer come in and ask in a hushed tone whether we have any books about women who like women and being able to say, ‘Yes, we have many of those!

A new Chapter 9 introduces the principles and basic techniques of crisis intervention, trauma counseling, and disaster response, exploring the challenges of these high stakes situations while highlighting the resilience of the human spirit and the potential for posttraumatic growth. Initially created as a women’s lifestyle blog, Not So Private Parts has evolved into a resource removing the shame and stigma surrounding women’s issues…. Having said that, if our hope and optimism is to be grounded in reality, we also need to be more radical.

At Antwerp Management School, our mission is to cultivate and develop the best leaders – not of the world – but for the world and for a better society. Visser shows that caring deeply about people and the environment, and using science and innovation to create scalable solutions, is the best way to ensure a future where nature, society and the economy can all thrive together. Aside from a gentle classical soundtrack and the occasional hiss from the coffee machine, they work in silence.

I hope and expect that our future selves and the next generation will look back on the Regenerative Twenties and the Thriving Thirties as a celebration of the insight, inspiration, and intent gained from Wayne Visser’s book Thriving. And this is a state of mind, a state of being, that I recognise from all the great changemakers I have been privileged to meet and, in many cases, work with over the decades. Tom Peters is a recognized guru on business excellence and management and the ability to love change, accept human resources as a major asset, stress quality and the use of building blocks as a strategy.I’ve recently become more interested in the topic myself and was looking for resources to complement my current course. Thriving is not an exercise in blind optimism in technology or other miracle-cure solutions; rather, it is an accessible approach to systems thinking and an offer of pragmatic hope based on purpose-driven creativity and innovation. The only blemishes are that the book is a little outdated (written way back in 1988) and also has some minor inconsistencies with respect to resource allocation issues. My relief was quickly followed by gratitude for being alive—for being given a second chance—and then reinforced by a strong resolve to make a positive difference in the world with whatever time I had left. With three decades of experience of working with people, I understand that while intentions may be good, changing behaviours is not always easy!

Wayne Visser offers the reader a wide-ranging blueprint for a better future rooted in regeneration, which is different from sustainability as practiced in today’s corporate boardrooms.Join us on Thursday, 8th February for the second edition of The Legal 500 (Legalease)'s much anticipated Green Summit London 2024, held in association with Eversheds Sutherland. Unfortunately i became bored after some 50 pages and thought I’d just go through it quickly trying to read the titles of the sections and reading only those parts that promised to be interesting.
