i dont want to give too much away, but if the author is setting up things the way i think he is, i am going to be begging tor every time for an arc because truly this series will probably become my favorite setting of all time.

It is a prequel, so we don't get to revisit the characters we loved as they're not in Viv's life yet, but don't worry, there are plenty of new characters to fall in love with. and how sometimes, we really aren’t at the right place in our lives for something, but that never means that door is shut forever. I still feel like we don't really know the characters even though we spent a whole book with them, it could have been twice as long and still not been long enough!

I could have done without the necromancer bits but they don't detract from the "cozy" narrative that is at the heart of the novel. And it turns out there's no better activity when recovering from an injury than reading a good book.
