About this deal

A Grade products may arrive with or without cellophane and may have minor cosmetic damage to the box. The contents aren’t terrible however and if you’re building an Ork horde you’re going to need savings wherever you can get them.

Chaos Space Marines have a couple of pretty mobile units and some units that can deep strike, but almost all of their transport options leave something to be desired. Otherwise, there’s not a ton to recommend about this one, given that the Thunderwolf Cavalry are still overcosted in their current state. There are a ton of ways you can build a Black Legion army that is both fluffy and reasonably decent, so from here just kind of feel out what works and how you want to play. The Changecaster went up substantial in cost to account for how useful he is, but is still worth looking at.If you’re going Night Lords, this is also a time to add a unit or two of Raptors and maybe a unit of Warp Talons. Not like the morally ambiguous, could-be-seen-as-the-heroes-depending-on-your-point-of-view bad guys but the Capital V, mustache-twirling villains of the setting. The Necron box is an odd one because it is stuffed full of models – you get an Overlord, two Troops choices (or an Elites, if you build Deathmarks), some Scarabs, and a flexible Heavy Support or secondary HQ option in the Barge (and if you build the Annihilation variant, you get another Lord too).

The rules for the Alpha Legion tend to favor versatility and subterfuge, and they have several rules that can apply to Cultists by virtue of just being INFANTRY-keyworded, though you may find they don’t necessarily want to run a ton of cultists. For your additional Troops units, either add in a second unit or two of Chaos Space Marines for some heavier firepower or even some Chaos Cultists to hold objectives and protect your deployment zone.

The one set of rules in it that might still be legal however are the rules for Be’lakor and his army of renown, but it’s likely those rules will no longer be valid after the release of Codex: Chaos Daemons.

If we were going to pick some to recommend against, it would have to be the basic Space Marines and Blood Angels boxes, which are almost entirely made up of trap choices – meanwhile Deathwatch and Thousand Sons both offer fantastic selections, even if they suffer from containing unique characters. You know you’re a master of infiltration when you can sneak up on the enemy line wearing the vibrant colours of the Imperial Fists. They can be either members of the original 20 first founding legions or renegades, recently turned through violent rebellion. MSRP goes it’s fine, but long-term you’re probably not going to use the Helbrute and the Havocs are more of a situational add to the army.
