About this deal

Some people say that it looks like 212 or blue de Chanel, that may be a little true, but I find it more beautiful than its all.

One of the Fore-Fathers of the modern day "best selling" generics, Chic by Carolina Herrera is a a fruity, woody, spicey concoction that is a very people friendly scent. I can assure you that, regardless of men/women, designer/niche, wherever you pick a scent, there's a good chance they featured either or both originally. Chic is the perfect name for this frag, it smells sophisticated and is incredibly versatile, I just wish it lasted longer. Watermelon is not a note that you expect to find in a men's fragrance, and I must admit that I was a little sceptical at first. When this scent came out in 2003 the industry was moving on from the fresh, aquatic era of the 90's into a more woody place. I take it in private just to feel better cause you have to feel better with this gem under your nose. I'd choose this over lots of other mainstream fodder just for the fresh fruitiness of that melon note. Chic for Men is one of the most beloved fragrances by Carolina Herrera and the signature scent of many a man. it is nice scent, opening with " lemony " watermelon, after a while I feel it somewhat powdery, maybe the pepper is the reason, I don't know really.

There’s a little bit of that old Uomo in Chic, though—not a lot by any means, mind, but just enough to make me smile. It gets me compliments, if someone is close enough, because it is not loud fragrance, no one smells is doesn't like it. The overall blanket is Iso E Super (again, Fahrenheit) or a variation of it, perhaps a captive, we can't be sure. To my nose it’s soapy watermelon and spice, semi-fresh but more fresh leaning and definitely masculine. The little zing from the citrus up top compliments the watermelon note (which fights to linger throughout the life of this scent) and the cardamom gives it dimension. But now in my thirties, scents like this and Dunhill Century have drawn me in these days for everyday wear. You get hints of watermelon throughout its lifespan on your skin and some tonka sweetness here and there. You can wear this to the office, to college, to dates, to pretty much anything; and where there are girls, compliments will surely follow. The warm notes of cinnamon amber and tonka beanslowly creep in and pretty much stays like that throughout.

The fragrance begins with citruses and a beautiful red watermelon scent, and then introduces cardamom, cinnamon and black pepper, which gives the fragrance depth and warmth after it was a refreshing, fruity fragrance in its opening. The top note has the freshness of water and juices, brought by citruses: Sicilian bergamot, ice-cold lemon, Italian mandarin and fresh melon. I first bought a bottle of Chic back in 2009 that smelled different from the bottle I bought in 2013. I get lots of compliments from this, I wore 4 sprays out in public when I first got this and a completely random girl approached me and said 'Excuse me, you smell absolutely gorgeous'.Still one could argue CHIC, may have been released either too late or in the case of the current dumbed down era of Perfumery, too soon to stand out or make a serious impact in the fragrance game. Overall a nice fragrance I plan on wearing in warm (but not super hot) weather this summer and fall.

The very moment that you trigger the perfume, you are shot with a blast of citrus and watermelon which vanishes in a matter of seconds and then makes a comeback, this time, with spices. Unfortunately, Sillage on my skin, very unimpressive, but it made me more and no wonder, because I burned a fact, smell receptor (smell), nice enough, pleasant drydown, make this perfume, very sleek and comfortable carrying, I think just for this cold weather. First off, I feel the description of this is hilarious - it goes off on how "very masculine" thus is and how it's for a refined gentleman and so on.A blind bought Chic as I liked the scent profile and had recently added some other Carolina Herrera fragrances to my collection (212 Men / 212 Sexy Men). It's safe to assume that it is not the only one, pretty sure there's other varieties added to try to close the huge gap of Lyral/Lilial, but we can't see it because not every muguet material is mandatory for labeling. PS: I don't know if the current OFF still smells the same, but I am referring to the bottles we used back in the 80s. My personal rating because im not a fan of 'easy to like' fruity fragrances as much as others may be. To those of you who appreciate light fruity frags with a woody base this is most definitely worth a look.
