I’ve been meaning to upgrade for a long time from our suitcase turntable (which is also a Crosley, but a much smaller, and older model than this) in to something we could keep at home and place on some new shelving.
The soundstage the Crosley creates is confined, vague and not especially easy to follow - it’s the audio equivalent of driving through fog. At the rear of the turntable there are spring-clips for connecting the deck to its partnering speakers, and a pair of stereo RCA outputs. There’s a lot of nostalgia in this turntable for me as opening up and playing some old vinyl has been a great experience in the last week since I set it up. The Crosley C62 is about as ‘plug and play’ as any system that includes a record player could possibly be.After owning this for nearly a week and having been through about half my album collection, I’m very happy, and I definitely made the right decision.
This item arrived and was beautiful- It looks very good on the cabinet, and has a nice heavyweight feel to it.The speakers are a compact (250 x 159 x 159mm, HxWxD) two-way design, with a soft-dome tweeter above a treated-paper mid/bass driver behind their detachable cloth grilles. The amount of amplification that’s built in, meanwhile, is not a number that the company is prepared to divulge. If using as a Phono output unit will need to be connected first to a phono pre-amp or the phono input of the stereo system. Set up took about 10 minutes and would have taken five, but I'd never "floated" or balanced a tonearm.
