About this deal

She is also the author of His Bright Light, the story of her son Nick Traina's life and death; A Gift of Hope, a memoir of her work with the homeless; and the children's books Pretty Minnie in Paris and Pretty Minnie in Hollywood. I read this book much faster than I anticipated because I was completely taken in by the glitz and glamor of the heiress and the Duke. If you are looking for a fast read - this is not a book for you as there are over 400 pages with countless characters and scenes that bring nothing to the overall story. The carriers of the truth, those who were aware of how bleak the future of the world was…… They remembered almost everything. At Blenheim Palace, Consuelo is confronted with an overwhelming list of duties, including producing an “heir and a spare,” but her relationship with the duke quickly disintegrates.

The time to capture the aid of the apocalypse -- the ring bearer of pandemics, the piper of the Bacharoths, the murdered, the warmonger -- was within her reach. With her upper-class breeding, her impeccable style, and her father’s bequest, Angélique creates Le Boudoir, soon a sensational establishment where powerful men, secret desires, and beautiful, sophisticated women come together. Tossed in a new world without connections and allies, she has to either accept her fate or lose the chance to help her people once again. In the faithful day that Duchess Ilya von Bismarck had been waiting for her whole life, she had finally uncovered the identity of the lone culprit who made, not only the Empire, but the world suffer.

When widow Magnolia De Solange was gravely wounded and saved by the Duke of Salicera, she could not help but imagine what a life of comfort and safety would mean for her and her son. When, to her shock and amazement, he refuses to give her up–or recognize that they are facing impossible odds–her fairy tale becomes a nightmare. I often found myself Googling little events and facts about Consuelo, she led a fascinating life and I couldn’t get enough of her the more that I read this book. Beyond the intrigue and romance of their unconventional court, the continent of Vymenia teeters on the brink of chaos as vampires hunt for power while humanity fights to remain relevant. NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER * The incomparable Danielle Steel breaks new ground as she takes us to nineteenth-century England, where a high-born young woman is forced out into the world--and begins a journey of survival, sensuality, and long-sought justice. HNS Awards have helped discover and launch the author careers of Michel Faber, Ruth Downie, Hilary Green, Martin Sutton, Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott, Nikki Marmery, Margaret Skea, Warwick Cairns, Katherine Mezzacappa and Elizabeth Macneal.

Will Sarah’s loyalties—and her dreams—falter when a king is toppled from his throne and a new queen crowned? In het eerste deel van het boek, waarbij Wallis en Ernest zich settelen in de Britse hoofdstad, kabbelt het verhaal door op een rustig tempo. The complexity of the P of W's character was fascinating, but there was not a whisper in the entire book about Wallis and David's big flirtation with Nazis: and in particular their controversial meeting with Hitler in 1937. If you are looking for drama - this might be a book for you but only if you like your drama to be squished in the last 50 pages. Steel went to great lengths to describe how this was necessary since the property and all the riches were entailed and therefore Angelique could not inherit anything and the oldest brother would become Duke and inherit everything. Plus the turn of the century is one of my favorite periods to read about so this was a book I was primed to love from the start. Mia a normal office worker went out with her friends at night for some drinks but after she woke up her body felt heavy and she wasn't able to open her eyes.

So, as it happened, I shamelessly begged for a copy of this book because I couldn’t stand the thought of missing out on it. I will still give this three stars because the writing was good, and I would like to read more by this author. I have read several books about Wallis Simpson and I get that that author wanted to provide a different Wallis, but it was really too one sided to me.

Evidently, she has no one else to turn to and with her bag of money hidden she goes off to live the life of a servant.
