About this deal

This is a look that is very hard to replicate, and besides shooting still-available E6 slides, I find that Ektar can sometimes give me results that are close enough. However, if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be shooting the roll of film across a variety of different lighting situations. Ektar may not be suitable for portraiture if you expect harsh shadows or difficulties controlling light. The vivid colours that are its strength and that make your landscapes and flowers pop will often make skin tones too red.

It is a film that generally renders accurate colours; this is great for landscape work, including night scenes. I never was a fan from this trend which considers that “analog” charm comes from the dirt on the picture, it’s simply downgrading the quality of the shot in my opinion.Kodak Ektar is a professional color negative film introduced in 2008, designed for nature, outdoors, fashion, and product photography. This color negative film (C-41 process) was available in 25, 100, 400, and 1000 ISO, and was marketed as a semi-professional, fine-grain, ultra-saturated color film suitable for product photography, landscapes, and studio work. But, how am I supposed to capture memories of my family and friends if their skin always looks like they’ve just finished applying their fourth layer of clown makeup? Then I used the internal light meter of the Nikon F3 to meter and expose for the tulip field which was mostly in the shadows of the image. I can comfortable scan this film at 3600 and 6400 in most cases and it still feels sharp and beautiful.

It's often said to be the closest thing to shooting slide film in terms of C41 films, perhaps dues to its bold colours, high contrast, and low grain. Kodak Ektar 100 36 Exp Colour Print Film is great for commercial photographers and amateurs alike, for nature, travel, fashion and product photography where the colour is really important. Here’s a photo shot with Kodak Ektar 100 and Kodak Gold 200 which will give you an idea of the increased “color pop” you get with Kodak Ektar 100. Kodak Ektar is a film very much suited to landscape or travel photography or whenever fine grain and heavier colour saturation is demanded. Im a bit more experimental with 120 film compared to 35mm - Ektar, Lomo, Fuji 400h, Portra and a few others. We’ll send you exciting photography interviews, crazy tips and tricks, competitions giveaways, and unmissable offers. I’ve no hard data, of course, but it seems that Ektar is making a comeback and getting the recognition it deserves. A late attempt to win in the compact market was hit by the rise of mobile photography and bankruptcy followed in 2012.
