About this deal

While it can be adjusted to hold smaller portafilters, it doesn’t grind into them exceptionally well. For comparison, the flat burr DF64 has a 250 Watt motor, and you’ll see in our Mahlkonig X54 review that the motor is only 120 Watts.

However, with a largely plastic construction and ceramic burrs, it is unlikely to last as long as the Specialita. The Eureka Mignon Specialita grinder is the perfect home coffee grinder for producing everything from single-dose espressos to filter brew grounds. The Mignon more than any other coffee grinder manages to successfully mix a clean and compact design without sacrificing the many incredible innovations fitted in Eureka’s professional coffee grinders. The micrometric grind adjustment knob is one of the easiest ways to make very fine changes to grind size that we've experienced, as well. I don't think you can go too far wrong with a Eureka Mignon grinder, and looking at what they tend to sell for used, they seem to retain their value quite well, so I wouldn't even be too concerned about the potential of losing a great deal of money if I were to decide on a Mignon and then change my mind and sell it on a bit later. The larger burrs mean faster grind times, though, and this coupled with the LDC would be enough to make me dig slightly deeper into my pocket, but maybe I'm just an easy sell ;-). We're a bunch of self-confessed coffee nerds, each with our own journey through the specialty coffee industry.

Even more convenient, when you put everything back together, there is no need to dial in the grind size all over again. For the first shot of the day, and any time you're about to grind for a shot not directly following another shot (in other words you don't need to keep purging each time in between shots if you're pulling a few unless you're adjusting the grind) you should purge enough coffee through the grinder, to get the retained amount out, to ensure that all of the ground coffee in your portafilter is freshly ground. The special burr design conceived by Eureka's engineers offers a grinding technique suitable for the preparation of both espresso and all coffees requiring a coarser grind - from filter all the way to French Press. It is our most popular home espresso grinder - it offers incredible consistency, speed and has a very impressive build quality. The XL thing doesn't really apply to the grinder itself, the Mignon XL is the same width and depth, and just 3cm taller. I've used the Eureka Atom 65 too, and that was a struggle to fit under the cupboards, which meant having to use the grinder quite a distance from the espresso machine. Even when things go wrong, Eureka grinders are known for being simple to service, thanks to their easy access and thoughtful internal layouts. The Eureka Mignon Specialita’ is an extremely capable home barista coffee grinder that offers you great value for the money. With bigger burrs and the adjustable fork as standard, this coffee grinder is focused for a home barista layout.

Since I have the Lelit Anna machine, they quite match and the grinder has 64mm flat burrs and quite a powerful motor. She loves trail running, rock climbing, coffee, food, and her tiny dog — and writing about all of them. This model is the same as the other Mignons in that the internals are identical but its basic, no electronics, no timer, just a manual dosing which is fine.Yep, the Eureka Zero Grinder even features the ACE system - high-speed maintenance to make barista life simple and easy. The Mignon Specialta is a superb espresso grinder, with its quiet grinding and touchscreen controls. In addition to our premium coffee beans, we proudly provide own brand essentials like granulated milk powder and sugar sachets. All I can really say is I’m really impressed with the Specialita, I think it’s a stonking grinder for the money.
