About this deal

This version of the classic Microplane zester/grater has a premium soft-touch handle and non-scratch end tabs.

Ginger may fare better, but there will still be fiddly blade-washing afterwards, so either way your fingers are going to see some blue plasters. And in terms of storage, this device is ultra compact, so you don’t have to worry about adding another bulky tool to your kitchen arsenal. Still, when I got an assignment to test several kinds of garlic presses, I secretly hoped there would be one that would win me over. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. There are a lot of things we'd rather not be doing when we step into the kitchen, and chopping garlic ranks pretty highly on that list.Since my line of work involves seeking out and reviewing products, I’m always perusing the internet for a life-changing gadget.

That is, until I came across the Chef’n Garliczoom this past fall, and I’m still passionate about it months later.I popped one clove in, rolled the Zoom back and forth on my counter, and checked out the results — a poor, uneven chop. Plus, I always cook with more than one clove, and I can smash, peel and chop several cloves in about the same time it would take to use a press. Simply load the GarlicZoom chamber with garlic, roll the unit back and forth on a smooth surface, and let the interior blades take over.

In fact, with big green wheels and mini blades that resemble ninja throwing stars, the Garlic Zoom does feel a bit child-designed. Simply toss in a few whole cloves, then roll the device along the kitchen counter for a customized chop — less rolling results in a coarser chop, while more means a finer mince.Simply load a clove of peeled garlic into the GarlicZoom, insert the chopping blade and then roll the GarlicZoom back and forth in short strokes across your counter for finely chopped garlic.

It may stick slightly at the beginning as it chops the larger pieces, but just keeping rolling with a firm hold. I’m the first to admit my knife skills are subpar, and garlic cloves are so small already that I really struggled to mince them evenly (and safely) by hand. The Chef’n Garliczoom was one of the first results, and it stood out because it really doesn’t look like other choppers. Established in 1982, Chef’n have spent over 30 years designing a range of innovative tools to make cooking easier and more fun.
