Thanks to their incredibly sensitive surface, it's effortless to hand draw a design onto the Plate using soft-tipped tools, such as paint brushes or cotton buds. We tried lots of other techniques with our Gelli Plate too, such as drawing into the paint with the end of a paintbrush, graduating the paint in stripes on the plate, and overlaying lots of different textures on top of one another. However, sometimes - for instance when working with large sheets - you want to place your inked up Gelli plate face down onto the paper or fabric.

We do not recommend using dyes when printing on the plate (such as rubber stamp inks, spray inks and fabric dyes) as the gel will absorb some of the dye and become permanently stained.
