About this deal

The thing I most love about Mr Benn though, is the sense of childhood innocence they portray through their eponymous hero. p>Read about how we'll protect and use your data in our Privacy Notice. Following the welcomed re-release of Big-Top Benn comes another addition to the immensely popular collection of original Mr Benn adventures by author and illustrator David McKee. His first book, Two Can Toucan, was published in 1964 and since then he has written and illustrated numerous children's books. One of the World Book Day 2015 Authors David McKee is one of the best known illustrators of picture books, having created acknowledged modern classics such as Not Now, Bernard, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, and Mr Benn, Gladiator.

We will be happy to offer you a full refund, replacement or exchange on any items excluding custom prints, Goldfinger + Tate furniture, face coverings and pierced earrings. David McKee was born and brought up in South Devon, where he went from grammar school to Plymouth Art College. The Mr Benn books were originally reissued by The Tate Gallery a few years ago and these editions feel just as nice and premium, perfect for showcasing McKee’s brilliant artwork and designs. Or to sum it all up in one simple sentence: it's a Mr Benn book, and it's as good as you remember the TV series being.

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant is an elephant who stands out from the herd, and Elmer’s app is different too. The cover may have some limited signs of wear but the pages are clean, intact and the spine remains undamaged. Shocked with the scenery, he finds himself in an isolated landscape but rides off in a clown car he finds.

But when I spotted a batch of Mr Benn books in one of the newly arrived deliveries, I had no choice but to sit down with a nice cuppa. My two year old is a Mr Benn fan, and immediately got to work thumbing through the book and pointing out Mr Ben, the dragon, etc.David McKee’s early work on the power of colour to transform life is perfect for all those who now love Elmer the patchwork elephant. In 1999, it was reported that a feature film was in development and that director Jevon O'Neill's production company, Erinfilm, had purchased the film rights to Mr Benn from David McKee. For an enjoyable look at different jobs in action, check out the Whoops-A-Daisy World books including Inspector Croc Investigates and Chief Rhino To The Rescue.

If you have ever wished you could turn a weedy uncle into an inflatable fairy or a bad-tempered friend into an exploding pencil case then this is the book for you! I have been reading this book to my son since he was three and as time has gone on he can now read it to himself but also enjoys having it read still. Nostalgia can often colour one's views - it's all too easy to remember loving something, rather than actually loving it again in the cold light of day. For those of you not already wrapping yourselves in the comforting blanket of nostalgia, I suppose an introduction is warranted.

Of his many beloved quirky characters, Elmer the Elephant and Mr Benn are possibly the most well-known.Voted 3rd in a BBC poll of 25 to 45 year olds of all-time favourite children's shows Voted 6th in Channel 4's poll of the 100 greatest kid's TV shows Voted 10th most famous time-traveller by The Times. The first thing to say about these handsome commemorative editions from the Anderson Press is that they ooze proper quality, from the thick card covers to the rich glossy pages. I particularly loved the way in which he shifts between his trademark, intricately detailed black ink drawings to a big colour splash page, often using large blocks of white space for extra emphasis and occasionally dropping in some bizarre 360 degree layouts as the cherry on top. The Hunter was also slightly altered; the book Big Game Benn features several hunters, but only one appears in the television episode. The first, Mr Benn Red Knight, was published in 1967, followed by three more; these became the basis for an animated television series of the same name originally transmitted by the BBC in 1971 and 1972.
