Founded in 1621 as a physicke (physic) garden for the teaching of herbal medicine, Oxford Botanic Garden was planted during the 1640s by its first keeper, Jacob Bobart the Elder. Enjoy in an elderflower martini: mix 50ml of The Botanist with 10ml dry vermouth and 5ml elderflower liqueur.On adding a mixer, the citrus, lemon, orange – and even bergamot – open out, as do hints of cinammon, cloves and even saffron. Twenty-two botanicals are hand-foraged from hills, shores and bays then slowly distilled with nine berries, barks, seeds and peels to create a spirit that captures the heart and soul of this remote Scottish island.
