About this deal

The Zhiyun Crane-M2 is designed for point-and-shoot cameras, action cameras, smartphones and very small mirrorless camera setups. This was my first mistake, when I thought I would just learn it on the go, but looking back, I would recommend thoroughly reviewing each mode first. So, if that's you, check out other options that can handle your heavier camera, such as Feiyu Tech Ak4000. Reproduction in whole or part in any form or medium without specific written permission is prohibited. I should have smashed it right there but the bride and groom were walking down the isle and I didn't want them to have to step over the broken parts.

The variety of modes is a welcome addition to the original Crane-M which was introduced almost three years ago. We are the main distributor of many notable brands like Viltrox, Godox, TTArtisan, Zhiyun, 7Artisans and Zeapon etc. I found this very frustrating as a first-time user and had to resort to looking for video tutorials elsewhere just so I could finally start using the gimbal. All this is packed into a high-density foam carry case that protects the gimbal and its accessories from damage during transport. However, if you want something that’s more flexible to use with your more serious cameras, and that can be used with your smartphone and action camera as well, the Zhiyun Crane is a decent choice.

Motion was kept smooth and steady whether I was standing still, walking or even jogging with the gimbal held in one hand. Other features include a quick-release camera mounting system, scale marks, and memory locks to make balancing easier for different types of cameras, and you can attach the mini tripod on the bottom to use it as a stand or if it's easier, for you to grip and control it. I have been using the crane M2 for several weeks now and have been extremely pleased with its performance. The advanced automated modes described above (motion timelapse, panorama and so on) only work on smartphones. In fact even the previous version didn’t have any competition either, probably because the market for those compact cameras is constantly shrinking and not growing.

Credit is provided by Novuna Personal Finance, a trading style of Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The weight of it makes it easy to use it for longer periods, and I enjoyed using it once it was all set up. It is worth remembering, however, that you’ll still get better image quality overall if you use the Crane-M2.This is probably due to the compact design which would make it tricky to switch into an upside down mode without hitting the gimbal or camera on the side. Effective image-stabilisation is a big selling point in smartphones and action cameras these days but nothing quite beats the fluidity and professional look that a motorized gimbal can bring to your video. The majority of cameras on the list allow taking photos, start and stop recording, as well as a zoom in and out option when using the gimbal handle. Secondly, changing the modes can be confusing too, because you don't simply run through each mode by pressing one button. Featuring a more easy-to-use quick setup system and smart lock design, as well as six creative operation modes, Crane M2 easily goes wherever you go and offers endless possibilities for your everyday creation.
