About this deal

I used a range of nature items including bark, grass, flowers, twigs and pine cones to help bring this tray alive. The mud doesn’t taste that great though so I have found they don’t eat it but just have a small lick! I then added in their Playmobil farm barn , some toy tractors and other playmobil and happyland people and animals. Before we got a little garden table for the children, the tuff tray was great for providing a flat surface for drawing and doing art projects.

Sophie was quite happy sitting in the tuff tray one sunny afternoon doing some shadow drawings of the Playmobil-123 figures. To begin with I just enjoyed watching them play freely without any direction or questioning from me.

I hid the milk, butter and cheese pictures underneath and sat some of the children’s toy cows on top. What I am trying to say is that this may just seem like a fun thing to play with but it is also a great learning aid! I used cocoa pops for soil and put some carrot tops on it in rows, ready to be harvested by the farmer with his tractor.Tuff trays like this are great for fine motor skills, Harry loved moving materials from one place to the other.

I enjoy doing Montessori activities with my own children at home and so, as well as the traditional Montessori Activities that develop the Stereognostic Sense, I have also incorporated my own ideas for games and activities into this…. If you’re considering whether it’s worth getting one yourself, take a look at, Is it Worth Getting a Tuff Tray? She talked about rolling around like Bottomley Potts from the Hairy Maclarey stories and she made birthday cakes with spaghetti candles in the back of her dumper truck and insisted that we all sing the song.Mixing the cereal, mud, and water was also a fun part of this activity for them, and of course, having a sneaky taste of it all. We tried scooping the nectar and filling the inside of our Grimms mini rainbow, which served as our honeycomb. The zoo tuff tray had lots of cereal as the base so the children could feed the animals and some of the children enjoyed having a taste too.
