About this deal

Highland Nectar is a beautifully married recipe of the frinest Scotch whisky infused with cinnamon, ginger, bitter orange, star anise, nutmeg and vanilla.

The result is a rich, aromatic and fruity liqueur that is equally satisfying neat, mixed or in a classic cocktail.Highland Nectar combines the distinctive character of Highland whisky with a characterful array of herbs, spices and fruit, including bitter orange, star anise, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger and cinnamon, to create a silky smooth liqueur with aromas of cinnamon-and-golden syrup biscuits, lemon, cloves, vanilla pods, honey, nutmeg and eucalyptus on the nose.

I’m not usually a whisky drinker, as I find it too strong for my tastes, but the other ingredients included in this pulled me in to try it as they sounded like they would go together nicely. The cloves are strong enough to come through, likewise the nutmeg -the rest are to my palate (note caveat) mostly overpowered by the rather cloying presentation, which carries into a lengthy, coating finish.

Crafted using a bespoke blend of herbs and spices, it’s a drink that matches wonderfully with a range of cocktails – or, you can simply enjoy it straight over ice. This starts as a blend of unpeated Scotch whisky which is then combined with herbs and spices to create a delicious fruity, honeyed liqueur. It was a separate company with its own blending, bottling and warehousing in South Queensferry, and officially incorporated in 1924. This time, it’s the distillery manager Gordon who has picked his favourite combination of casks to create the most moreish of whiskies.

The ‘H’ word has been used in countless Scotch blends from Highland Breeze, Highland Mist, Highland Milk, Highland Stag… you name it. With it’s added herbs and spices, I find similarities with this and my whisky based recipe for hot toddy. The 'hot highlander' is probably best avoided if you don't want to be bouncing off the walls, but a simple shot of fresh or bottled lemon juice and hot water works well enough. The 50cl bottle is well designed, in the traditional vintage font styling which also looks very festive which helps to make it a good addition to the table at the end of the seasonal meals.uk accepts no liability for inaccuracies or misstatements about products by manufacturers or other third parties. This whisky liqueur will fill your senses with aromas of cinnamon-and-golden syrup biscuits, lemon, cloves, vanilla pods, honey, nutmeg and eucalyptus. Got this for my grandad and he loves it, He doesn't drink a lot but it was a good gift for christmas. Highland Nectar was a DCL brand from the start under its Distillers Agency offshoot that was set up in around 1880 to focus on exports.
