By varying the tonalities and re-thinking the fragrance structure, Olivier Cresp has succeeded in subliming its elegant signature. It's a blend of violet leaf and light engine oil, with the pepper, citrus and woody ambers of a sauvage masculine. There are frags that you have in your collection which you treat equally and then there are frags that you have a special place for, maybe perhaps treasure, frags that you get backups of… This one is special!
It was for these two types of men, who although similar have their differences, that the company dedicated this fragrance. This Mercedes-Benz is very elegant to me, office safe and signature scent worthy, it will set you apart from all the Invictus and Sauvage you find around, especially if you're on the younger side of things. This opens the door for a drier aroma, with a further freshness brought in by vetiver and some cedar.Both last a decent amount of time, and I can still smell this on my wrist a day later after showering. This is way more Green or vegetal than the spicy, leather warmth of the Dior, and, to my nose, it replicates a Green Irish Tweed but with a much bigger Fresh Grass top, the Violet absolutely takes center stage and the citrus is a backing dancer except the Orange bitterness comes in for the chorus.
MB Intense would be perfect as someone's signature scent, although certainly not revolutionary in terms of perfumery.
But to me, this is a closer to a lighter, soapier, "laundry-sheet" take on Geoffrey Beene's Grey Flannel. Unlike a lot of 'intense' flankers that we see in the market which bear little to no resemblance to its original, this is exactly what it is expected to be. I am 24 and I really really really dig the smell of this, it's way different from all the other freshies I have, this fragrance is more cold and sharp than fresh but I love that. Comparable is also Dsquared Wood (but the classic one, none of the new variations), which is better in my opinion.
I can see this being used as an office fragrance and the third height EBT used for night time out and aboutness.
