About this deal

Whitney had a lot of shady people around her including family members but I don't think Robyn was one of those people. Whitney’s world”, as she puts it, couldn’t have been further away, and even after the singer’s death, Crawford felt the best approach was to lie low. She didn't bad mouth a soul, not one and I'm sure she had more to say about people who mistreated her. A sadly all too frequent case of a person not allowed to be their true selves and the suppression of their true self causing severe problems along the line. She adds, “If Whitney partnered with you, she didn’t try to do your job, she worked with you as a partner.

This would be the pattern of their lives together for the next 10 years: Crawford as the person to whom Houston would turn as the pressures of fame intensified.I need someone that I know loves me for me,” Houston once said of Crawford and as the star’s celebrity increased, Crawford became one of the very few people she could trust. In this book Robyn is very raw with how things went down behind the scenes with Whitney and her family. The jealousy I’ve witnessed was volatile – that which my mother experienced with my father, and quite frankly, the way I saw Bobby treat Whitney – that’s jealousy. After Houston married Bobby Brown, she told him about her past with Crawford and his jealous rage exacerbated the growing rift that resulted in Crawford leaving Nippy Inc.

Robyn knew Whitney was struggling with addictions and it seemed that made better headlines then the renowned career she had paving her own way in music. The book is named after a Temptations song the two friends used to listen to at the first apartment they shared. Despite Houston's heavy touring schedule, that considerably wore her down; Cindy Madnick, the bookkeeper of Nippy Inc. A generous, loving book that has more insight on Houston's career--the ride, the fall--than any other single source that I've encountered . To those who did this: you are not true “Goodreaders” b/c if you were you would understand that everybody deserves to tell their truth. What is saddest to me is the way the people around her who seemingly loved her used and took advantage of her fame and wealth. She wanted women, namely Robyn, and because she couldn’t have what she wanted, thus began a downward spiral of self-denial, self-loathing, and self-destruction. And the fact that these ratings are not accompanied by actual reviews leads me to believe that the ppl who rated did not actually read the book, but chose to rate anyway b/c of their personal feelings about Robyn writing this book.
