Vividly presented through full-colour maps and graphics, this fully revised and updated atlas profiles species lost, threatened and surviving today. Megan McCubbin reveals the stories of the scientists, rangers and conservationists who are fighting to save these extraordinary creatures from extinction. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Also included is one plant species, an orchid, making me aware of the practice of plant poaching, which is making many species of plant similarly in danger of extinction. Become a member and you can be an invaluable part of our mission to conserve birds of prey while enjoying as many visits to the Hawk Conservancy Trust as you like – plus many other benefits! This book takes just 20 of these amazing creatures, from the 'celebrities' of the red list - the tigers, the northern white rhino, the kakapo - to the lesser-known, and sometimes lesser loved ones, and paints a portrait of them, their world, and the people trying to protect them. There are currently 41,415 listed endangered species, and over 16,000 of them are threatened with extinction. Richard Mackay is a specialist in environmental impact assessment and environmental policy maker for major companies.

A keen photographer, in 2019 she was appointed as the coordinator and judge of Young Bird Photographer of the Year. A really brilliant insight into an array of endangered species with a fantastic mix of facts and real life experiences. Not only is Atlas of Endangered Species a fascinating, immersive exploration of iconic and overlooked species, but most importantly it's a powerful, passionate plea for a wilder future alongside nature. Megan does seem to try not to paint too bleak a picture, but I’m afraid I was left feeling that despite the courageous work of the many individuals that she introduces us to in the book, who are fighting to preserve the featured species, it is all ultimately going to prove to be too little, too late.We also use them to help detect unauthorized access or activity that violate our terms of service, as well as to analyze site traffic and performance for our own site improvement efforts. Beautifully written, capturing the wonder and personality of each creature, big and small perfectly.

Her interest stems from a childhood growing up in and around the Isle of Wight Zoo, which specialises in the rescue and rehabilitation of ex-circus and pet trade animals.I listened so I didn't see the dyslexia friendly version of the book but I thought this was brilliant, something that had never occurred to me. Pretty sound balance in coupling her own experiences with the essential facts for each of the species that are covered. Much like her presenting style, Megan McCubbin's writing has an effortless appeal to a diverse audience, from the curious child to the most seasoned of conservationists.
