He won the Prix Relay du Roman d’Évasion, a prize that rewards a novel in which readers can ‘escape from everyday life’, for his novel Paths of Glory, and the Prix Polar International Prize for the best international thriller of the year, for his novel A Prisoner of Birth.

Complete with another stunning Archer cliffhanger, the novel ends just as the reader is hopeless hooked. You really do have to start with the first in the series, it's no good trying to read them out of sequence, but it's so easy to become immersed in the plot that you don't want to put it down.BookBrowse seeks out and recommends the best in contemporary fiction and nonfiction—books that not only engage and entertain but also deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Be Careful What You Wish For opens with Harry Clifton and his wife Emma rushing to hospital to learn the fate of their son Sebastian, who has been involved in a fatal car accident. Archer's characters, even in the midst of blazing run-ins maintain their British elegance and dry sense of humour.

Back in London, Harry and Emma's adopted daughter wins a scholarship to the Slade Academy of Art where she falls in love with a fellow student, Clive Bingham, who asks her to marry him. I loved the first couple of books in this series and the last one I found somewhat enjoyable as well. The series chronicles the life and times of Harry Clifton, his wife, Emma Barrington, and Emma's brother and Harry's best friend, Giles Barrington. As the novels progress the author focuses more on the next generation of Clifton's and how there life progresses. The story starts exactly where the last left us and continues the story of all the characters we have come to love in the Clifton Chronicles. in " The BookBrowse Review" - BookBrowse's membership magazine, and in our weekly " Publishing This Week" newsletter. He decided this was not the time to tell him the good news, but simply asked Harry to pass on his heartfelt condolences to Emma. Be Careful What You Wish For' is a terrific thriller which some reviewers clearly have enjoyed as a 'stand-alone' novel.
