I’d heard stories of how Russ would wheel it outside to the swimming pool to work on his latest movie, or disappear for weeks at a time while cutting together his footage. And yet, despite his movies’ box office success, compounded by cheap-as-chips budgets, Russ’ career was like his house: situated beneath the Hollywood mainstream, in a barely noticed sub-genre under the shadow of glamorous moviedom. Russ Meyer's films may be silly and irreverent, but they're also great fun, and while Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens is not his best work, it's still great fun to watch and certainly comes recommended to Meyer's fans! He announced a sprawling bio-documentary, The Breast of Russ Meyer but apart from a music video and a couple of short films featuring his girlfriend du jour, nothing materialized. He spent most of his time by his pool, or exercising on a rudimentary weights bench at the side of his house. I had seen pictures of the property dating back to when Russ first bought it, usually with his ubiquitous RM Films van parked out in front.I don’t understand why they have zero interest in doing anything with the name Russ Meyer and his work. The walls were covered with memorabilia from his own films, carefully preserved by Russ for decades, such as the cap worn by the handyman in his early film Eve and the Handyman. I mean, we shot inside, and we'd forgo lunch and have sex–wonderful, riotous, noisy sex… laughing and scratching. This article may contain an excessive amount of intricate detail that may interest only a particular audience. I don't think Russ Meyer was really trying to say anything with this film - there's a slight hint of a point stemming from the idea of "Smalltown, USA is a normal small town, but look what goes on behind closed doors!

If I’m remembering correctly, someone in the Meyer biography said that Janice Cowart thinks Meyer’s films are sleazy and sees no value in them. The narrator heads off to his own home, where the teen-aged Rhett, his son, has sex with the narrator's huge-breasted younger Austrian wife, SuperSoul ( Uschi Digard), during an earthquake.

I'm so glad this was available on the DVD format I hope this means I can replace worn out videos of other films he likes. Lamar goes to a bar, where Lavonia masks herself as Mexican stripper Lola Langusta and drugs his drink. The movie is based in a small town USA and centers around the married couple of Lammar and Levonna and the sexual frustration of Levonna, here on in ensues a fantastic comedy soft porn romp in which the couple meet various colourful charactors along the journey to help cure Lammar's bedroom leanings, ending up in the fantastic 'Church of Rio Dio Radio' where in lies Eufaula Roop, who has to be seen to be believed.Levonna and Lamar could have the perfect relationship if it were not Lamar's obsession with rear entry. Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens is a 1979 satirical sexploitation film directed by American film-maker Russ Meyer and written by Roger Ebert and Meyer. But for anyone who wants to remember a 'gentler' age; or is studying that period of time, I would recommend this production. Knowing nothing about how a moviola that used to belong to a west coast sexploitation legend works, I needed an east coast sexploitation legend over to give me a crash course.
