About this deal

I loved the twists and turns this journey takes you on and I can honestly say, there were some paths that completely took me by surprise. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. This FMC is a truly distasteful person, in both her behavior and character, and combined with the single-sided POV, the writing was hard to stay focused on. Fitz is absolutely murderous, both figuratively and literally, when it comes to protecting those he cares about, including his new wife and soon to be queen.

So obviously I picked this up because it was a clean romance, and I don't need too many personal (albeit fictional) details in my life. Highly recommend to any Austen lovers who also enjoy fantasy, mystery, and love a swoony romance without all the spice! One downside, if you know the original story, you pretty much know/can guess the outcome here, but that didn't bother me much.I am more of the slow-burn type girl so when Fitz was the first to declare his feelings for Elle it had thrown me for a bit. I enjoyed going on the journey with these two as they slowly started to tear down the barriers placed around their hearts. It just felt like the h was rejecting the H over and over again and it didn’t hit anywhere like Elizabeth rejecting Darcy felt. Obwohl mir gegen Ende des Buches bei den Thematiken Trauer und der Akzeptanz des Todes ein wenig die Tränen kamen, war das Buch im allgemeinen sehr einnehmend und herzerwärmend. Immerse yourself in Fae of Brytwilde, a series of standalone fantasy romance novels all set in the same fae world and loosely inspired by Jane Austen's novels.

Desperate to bring him back to life, she stumbles upon a plot involving the murder of a Fae Princess and the mystery of how her 'family heirloom' locket from her own father plays a part in grand scheme of things. Over the years, Elle and her father studied magic in secret, trying to uncover a way for them to help Grace escape her fate, to no avail. Ok, here’s the deal…I generally liked the book, so maybe more than 3 stars, and I know it’s YA, so I also understand the general angstiness of the female protagonist, but OMG!

It times this meant that I was kind of frustrated with Elle, because the actual villain was RIGHT THERE and I get that she doubted Fitz more easily because Reid was her family's friend and a human to boot. I may have to give this book a reread in the fall to truly feel like I am in Ashwood with the autumn fae.

Sure, if she was 18 in today’s world then maybe I would believe that she was having such a struggle with her self and the death of her father, but she’s not. I really enjoyed the beginning of the book and the set up, the middle lagged for me in bits, and the end felt wrapped up pretty quickly for a short book. The trouble was this was all supposed to be the book's climax, and I was just getting antsy and impatient. Chaos soon ensues, and Elle struggles to find her own gifted magic while uncovering the secrets of the ghosts surrounding the castle, including her recently-deceased Father. As time passes, Elle, much to her own frustration, finds herself unable to fight the growing attraction she has for her brooding and mysterious husband, whom she only wanted to use as a means to an end for her own family's salvation. She attempts to slap the H, pulls a knife on him, and hurt him with her new magical powers all the while he is just running around saving her from herself as she has no respect or care for anything other than her “mission”. It is loosly based on Jane Austen's masterpiece but adds some non-spice gothic Fae and spooky ghosts. The day of Grace's wedding, Ellie makes a split-second decision to save her older sister from marrying the dark and broody crown prince, Fitz and hides herself under the magical veil, marrying him instead.
