About this deal

I have used other study books that I didn't really understand but the Hillier's book helped me so much that I probably wouldn't have passed Motor vehicles level 1 at college. Book 1 is similar to previous editions of Fundamentals of motor vehicle technology, but, with updated information. Book 1 is also aligned with topics that students will have learned about in earlier stages of study. Each edition is well written and, I think, with the car enthusiast in mind as opposed to the professional reader.

He has authored and co-authored numerous publications, primarily focusing on engine and vehicle technology.

I own several incomplete editions of this famous 'Hilliers Fundamental of Motor Vehicle Technology' book series, spanning at least a couple decades, maybe longer. The book gets straight to the point with an easy to use index and titled paragraphs I'd recommend this to anyone studying Motor Vehicle Technology at college or even if you just want to learn something new and you don't really need to know a lot about cars to understand this book unlike any other books. Well its a book so I got no problem with it because the availability was enough for me but I would've appreciated it more if they have delivered me a new one. The exams for any of the IMI qualifications in Britain are written to the material given in this book.

Not only does it give you the fundamental basics but it also takes you to the maths and science behind everything. Apart from the fact that it is Americanised: Britain and America have their own terminology regarding the subject, so it can be slightly confusing if you haven't got a lecturer to set you straight. Otherwise mechanics can take advantage of you - if you don't know what a spark plug is, and does, you can be taken to the cleaners by a shady mechanic! These widely-admired and authoritative texts provide the best possible resource for students, apprentices, enthusiasts, and professionals who need to get to grips with core concepts and achieve comprehensive mastery of core concepts of automobile technology. This work also provides the depth and breadth of content to support those progressing towards Technical Certificates. As a beginner to moderately experienced home car mechanic, I have learnt quite a bit from this book. He possesses a passion to broaden and disseminate his expertise in Powertrain and Automotive Engineering. I am being serious here - this is a book that anyone who owns a car should have, and should understand.

David Rogers is a dedicated professional with a multifaceted background encompassing Engineering, automotive technology, and technical writing. I may supplement my collection with chassis/bodywork technology because I own an elderly Mercedes and it needs periodic maintenance. If you are a mechanic wanting to increase your knowledge or a student/potential student then you should not be without this book!

His credentials include being a registered Chartered Engineer (CEng) and European Engineer (EUR ING), and a qualified Automotive Master Technician (LCGI). The books, of which I believe there are currently 6 per edition, are not updated very often and seldom at the same time. It covers the developments of mechanical systems, whilst also providing an appreciation of the applicable electronic systems that are an everyday part of the technicians work.We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.
