I do clean them with Dubbin occassionally which helps keep them waterproof but I do find by towards the end of the year when they're getting fairly worn they aren't as waterproof as when new. My Toronto are solid, real leather, heavier, more resistant, more durable, not crumpling and definitely waterproof! Really good value, I rarely have to replace the laces although I do save the laces from the previous years pair.
