About this deal

The pictures really don't do it justice; the articulation is pretty impressive and fun to mess with in person, and I think this model would be a great, eye-catching addition to anyone's desktop. I've just given it a try with a minifig holding a goblet, and there's definitely a difference in how "active" the goblet is. The color of the plates really doesn't matter, and I think it would look better in a metallic silver. I've always been confused as to what the "correct" orientation of a minifigure's hands is, particularly when holding utensils.

Just look at every official lego box showing the minifigs, the hands have always been in that orientation. The last few years have seen massive jumps in terms of minifig detail, first dual molded arms and legs, now side and toe printing on legs, (the new Sam Wilson cap looks amazing and is what got me thinking about this) and all that’s really left to improve is the hands, either dual molded or printed, or both. I used dark red and light gray styling, largely because that's the color I had for the finger joints and then I decided to keep going with it for the rest of the model. The palm is just solid and flat, unlike a real hand, but I don't think that detracts from the articulation at all, because of the range of movement in the fingers and thumb. Some LEGO® sets contain small parts that are NOT suitable for and may pose a hazard to children under 3 years of age.

Some things require the hand to be sideways, generally in this case I have the flat side on the inside and curved side on the outside of the minifig. Build the Robot Hand and investigate what pressure is needed to hold different objects without dropping or crushing them. Given that the pinky is shorter, and that the thumb is further away from the pinky, I would think that the "fatter" end makes more sense to be the "top" of the hand (pointing up/forward). Experiment by adding different materials to the Robot Hand for a better and safer grip that also causes less damage. The data usage is for personalised functionalities, content and ads, content and ad measurements, as well as to ensure the stability and continuous improvement of our systems and to gain insights into product development and target groups. Hands are made in nearly every standard colour, with yellow and fleshed coloured ( 2003-present day), being the most common colours. Special hands, such as pirate hooks in several different colours and boxing gloves have also been made. I think the proper orientation is with the wide end up, but for poses like spearmen at attention, I turn it upside down, because that changes the angle of the accessory and brings the spear in closer to the body. I just showed someone, who knows hardly anything about Lego, a minifigure with its hands orientated differently and she said the flat-topped, wider section up hand looked better. This hand is modelled from the structure of a human hand, the palm being the highlight of this work. The model can be put into a wide variety of realistic hand positions, such as forming a fist, holding up any number of fingers (4 is pictured), snapping, performing the Jedi mind-trick from Star Wars, or even holding small objects like a pencil or a minifigure (no, these wouldn't be included :D). First, predict how much pressure the Robot Hand needs to lift the different objects without damaging them.
